Just curious if anyone can comment on how vacation time is scheduled during your intern year at different places. I assume it varies but just trying to get an idea. For example if one had a wedding they were suppose to be in do most programs try to accomadate or is this a difficult thing to do during your intern year.

If anyone can comment specifically on the Yale traditional program, Columbia or Brown that would be great.

Thanks

Yale: 4 total weeks of vacation during your intern year, separated into 2 2-week blocks. Sometime after you match, you'll be asked to rank when you would like each of your vacations. If you have a wedding/special date/etc you can let the chiefs know and they'll take that into consideration. I got my 1st and 2nd choices for vacation...and everyone in my class got their requested vacations within their rank list.

Bottom line is...they accommodate

This is the general rule for IM programs. You'll get a chance to request vacation weeks (we had to list 3 different options for each of 3 vacation weeks) and if you have a special request, let them know and it will usually be accommodated...don't expect to get special dispensation for >1 of those (i.e. don't say you need 3 different weeks for 3 different weddings) but you should have no problem for 1 of them.
