Hello everyone!

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how/where to look for scholarships to help pay for medical school? I'm not talking about the few merit-based ones that schools offer...but scholarships in general. Any good websites or places to search?

Thanks!

Schools offer various need-based financial aid packages. Some places are better known for offering a lot of aid than others.

Look at the financial aid handout you got at interview day. Almost all of mine have links to websites.

Schools with significant endowments tend to offer lots of need-based scholarships. External scholarships are significantly more competitive to get.

I'm wondering about scholarships from outside sources. I'm not your top 1% that will be getting merit-based scholarships, nor am I qualified to receive need-based grants or scholarships.

Where do average middle class folks get funding for medical school besides from loans and parents?

Can I just ask why you think you deserve to get such a scholarship?

When you applied for college there were tons of different organizations/groups that offered scholarships. You could get a scholarship for being left handed, or over a certain height, from a certain ethnicity, etc.

This has nothing to do with whether I deserve it or not. I am merely asking where one, anyone, can possibly get some financial aid in paying for medical school... there's always aid for people who have amazing stats, and those who come from more unfortunate economic situations, but what about for everyone else?

I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering about this.

My parents keep hassling me to apply for other outside scholarships, and I don't know how to tell them that there aren't that many, and the ones that do exist are extremely competitive. They definitely don't believe me. Yikes ha

congrats on your numerous acceptances!

i just saw your mdapps, and it seems that you are a semi-nontrad. i'll be in the exact same category as you are, and i am also a CA asian. i got a few questions and i would appreciate it if you can answer them

1) is your 3.45 GPA including that 4.0 postbacc?
2) did you take all of your prereqs during postbacc, or did you take upper level sciences in order to raise your sGPA?
3) do you mind sharing some of your ECs?

thanks!
