So I recently got accepted into a DPT program that I am really interested in, but am still waiting to hear from my #1 choice. The program that I was accepted into gave me just two weeks from my acceptance (last week) to put down a pretty huge deposit or lose my spot. The ACAPT has "Admission Traffic Rules" though that say that schools can't require a tuition deposit before January 15th so I emailed the program asking why they are requiring a deposit so much earlier than the given date for deposits. It's been a week now and I've tried contacting two people in the program but no one will give me a response. I sent an email also to the ACAPT but they say they don't enforce this rule so I don't have much hope in that.

Kind of at a loss for what else to do right now so any advice for other strategies or people who have struggled with this before please let me know.

This is pretty common for a lot of PT schools. Send in your deposit for this school and wait for your #1. If your #1 accepts you then you lose your deposit for your other school. Unless you have some sort of extenuating circumstances, I do not think the first DPT program that you got accepted to will give you any exception in the two weeks notice for your deposit. I would put down the deposit especially if this is the first PT program that you have been accepted to. At least for security reasons, you know that you will be attending PT school somewhere!

Do what the person above me said.

To add on: unfortunately, I think the deposit rule of January 15th is more of a recommendation than a guideline.

Yes I agree you should go ahead and submit the deposit for your first school. I am actually in the same boat and was accepted early to a school back in October. However, I won’t hear back from other top choices until December/January. I don’t know the policy for your school, but mine said after February, the deposit becomes 75% refundable, then 50% and so on closer to start date. So maybe yours will do the same?
