Need advice

Please help me build a school list (MD and DO, MD preferred)

* ORM

* cGPA/sGPA: 3.39/3.1 with upward trends

(This is mostly, but not entirely, attributed to one bad semester where I had some personal family/health issues happening that I can explain, plus poor performance in Calc 2 which I can't really explain I just didn't do great and got a C+)

* 515 (127/130/128/130)

* State of Residence: PA

* Biology Major, not a reapplicant, not non-trad, currently in my gap year getting clinical experience.

* Volunteer hours: 1530

* ECs: Student red cross club, a club where we raised funds for pediatric cancer, dog sitting, tutoring middle/high schoolers, ski club, AED (pre-health honors society)

* Clinical hours/experience: 1850

* LORs: orgo professor, 2 bio professors, volunteer supervisor

It looks like you have a new MCAT (previous 508). Remember, schools may average attempts for screening. Hence with a new MCAT, are there any revisions to the school list, I presume???

Also it looks like you have more volunteering hours.

What else has changed?

Previous WAMC from 2024: WAMC for admission

Did you end up applying last year?
You were given a good school list to work with then.
Hi, no I did not apply last time. I was lacking clinical hours and needed a better MCAT so I spent the last year working on those and I think I'm in a better position now. Wanted to get a fresh look given the better MCAT + hours! I updated the post with my VERY preliminary MD list as I mostly have my DO schools sorted.

Hi,

Yes I'm very thankful I improved my MCAT. I got more clinical and volunteer hours than last time in addition to the MCAT. I edited the post with my preliminary MD list (DO list is mostly sorted) but it definitely needs some work I think.

You have several state public schools on your list that admit few non residents with a GPA of 3.39 and no connection to the state. Your GPA is also not competitive for some of the other schools on your list. I suggest these schools from your list:
Temple (LKSOM)
Jefferson (SKMC)
Geisinger (GCSOM)
Penn State
Drexel
Rush
Tulane
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
NYMC
Albany
Vermont (Larner)
Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)
Oakland (OUWB)
Wayne State
Western Michigan (WMed)
Quinnipiac (Netter)
EVMS
VCU
George Washington
West Virginia
Marshall
Tufts
Belmont
TCU (Burnett)
Creighton
Also add Roseman and Alice Walton
