Hey folks,

I'm just looking for some feedback on the schools I'm planning on applying to this cycle. I should be verified within a few days so I'm trying to finalize my list. As for stats, I just graduated this past spring, I have a 31Q, 3.8 GPA, and pretty decent EC's (lots of shadowing, played basketball in college, hospital volunteering, volunteer basketball coach etc.). I am a Missouri resident and went to a small liberal arts school in Missouri. Any schools I should take out? Any I should add? I would like to narrow my school list down to about 15. All help is greatly appreciated!!!!

EDIT: I revised my schools and now think I have a better list. Anyone else??

Oakland
Creighton
Loma Linda
Michigan State
Missouri-Columbia
Penn State
University of Kentucky
Rosalind Franklin
Loyola
Medical College of Wisconsin
Wake Forest
SLU
Colorado
Vanderbilt
Iowa

Are you sure that the very religious environment of Loma Linda will be a good fit?
Are you an URM (or strong ties to such a population) so that Meharry will be appropriate?

That's a good point. No I'm just a middle class white guy. Wow I just looked at the demographics for Meharry and I was not aware that this was mainly for URMs. I am probably going to take it off my list. However, I am aware of Loma Linda's religious environment. I am a strong Christian, so although it may be fairly strict on some of the "rules" per se, it does not bother me too much.

I would think that Colorado would be a bit of a reach for you, since they prefer non trads with 500+ community service hours. It's also expensive

I would personally remove Michigan State since it's extremely expensive for OOSers too

Thanks for the input. Just curious, how do you know that about colorado?

Historically, I understand from SDN posters in the know that there was a stated preference for 500+ hours of clinical experience at Colorado, but since they've gotten a recent administrative change, this has not been re-expressed. It is apparently not known if there has been a change in policy or if the school is reconsidering their position.

Remove Michigan unless you come from a very wealthy background and can afford their outrageously expensive OOS tuition.
