If money is a consideration, I don't know that UNC and UConn are your best bets.

How about WVU and Case Western?

Thanks, Glimmer! OP has been edited to reflect your input. Any other suggestions? Should I apply to more than 10?

Are you generally wanting to stay on the east coast, or are you open to wherever?

Or maybe the better question is... Where would your wife like to be? 😀

What are you basing your list on? Geography? Cost? How about buffalo and Michigan? Both reasonable tuition and great schools. I think Michigan likes veterans/non trads as well, iirc.

I've got just under an associate's degree's worth of CC credits, and IIRC, Temple and Michigan don't take CC credits. My wife honestly would love to move to Cali (or somehwere urban - prefers not a rural place), but I fear I am not competitive for any of their schools. I personally have no preference as to which school I go - I just want to get in!

List is based on where I may be most competitive to gain interviews/acceptance.

How about UNLV? That could be a pretty interesting area to live in.

As far as stats are concerned..

(From website)
An applicant would be considered competitive if he/she had a science/cumulative GPA of 3.4 and 19s/20s on the DAT, specifically the total science, PAT and AA sections.

In that case, I'd throw these on your list ---

Western
MWU-IL
UDM
UNLV -- haha glimmer beat me to it here
Nova

I know this is anecdotal, but I found last years cycle to be a total crapshoot - by that I mean, schools that I thought I'd have a good shot at didn't look twice at my application, and schools that I thought were a crazy reach ended up giving me interviews/accepting me. Looking at school's matriculant averages is a good place to start, but I wouldn't not apply somewhere that you'd love to attend because their averages might be slightly higher than your #'s. As a nontrad I think you have a leg up on some traditional applicants with similar numbers.

How many should I be applying to?

I'd say as many as you can comfortably afford. You can always turn down interviews, but you can't get them if you don't apply. That said, there's no point in applying to schools that you'd never realistically attend.

You may want to check Boston, IIRC they don't accept any CC credits.

Thanks! Columbia is my dream school, but I sincerely doubt they would take me seriously.
