Anyone decide or have an interview yet? I had 1 acceptance, got a call about another interview, but so far no follow up on a time, etc. Really like one of them, but have to figure out how I would do housing, that will be the biggest expense.

I just decided and officially notified the school last night, as well as turned down a different offer. It's a strange feeling to know that I'm done with the application/admissions process, and I don't have to go home and work on a personal statement or anxiously check the mail!

As far as expenses go, I was given some advice by a faculty member that if you can't find finding in your department, you can always look for funding in other departments. I know a student who has been funded by the athletics department while in the school psych program. She would complete assessments on student athletes and worked in conjunction with athletics and the school psych department to create a note-taking workshop, among other things.

Good luck with everything!

Which schools are you guys referring to? I am anxiously awaiting any kind of information from SCSU, as I haven't even heard about interviews yet...

I wrote Southern because someone called but never called back...they are a bit disorganized I think in the office anyway. I met someone who was in the program. I hope they interview soon. UConn did already. Haven't heard from other CT colleges.
Good luck at James Madison, my cousin went there for undergrad and loved it. I heard they have a great Psych program.

I have only gotten a rejection from Winthrop - the other 4 schools I have applied to have been silent. James Madison was one of them (congrats and good luck with your interview, coldsweat!) and the others are East Carolina, Towson, and University of Maryland. Has anybody heard from any of those? I don't see much stuff on gradcafe about school psychology programs and I am beginning to get really frustrated!

*deep breath...

The schools that I heard from are Lehigh and SUNY-Buffalo. I also heard James Madison has a great psych program.

I made my decision and will be going to Northeastern University!

Congrats on Northeastern, I'm debating a couple. UConn was great, but I would need an assistantship to make it doable and although they have them, they aren't guaranteed. The cost of tuition/R&B, transportation, etc. will factor in. A great deal if you do get one though.
There is a school near me, where I can work and pay off part of the loans as I go, that is something for me to think about too.
Enjoy Boston!

Congratz to all who have accepted! I've decide to attend Ball State University's School Psych program, which after attending the interview became my number 1! Big thing from BSU was their guareentee of assisantships and tuition remission. I also was accepted at Indiana State and rejected by UK. PM if anyone else will be in my cohort next fall!

The director at SCSU got back to me inquiring about my application status simply saying "All final decisions will be made by April 15". Does that mean decisions on who to invite for interviews or decisions on who has been accepted. I fear the latter. Someone I know in their school counseling program said she heard that school psych interviews are most likely this week. When I call the school psych office to find out I keep getting directed to a full voicemailbox, and the secretart has yet to email me back. Anyone have suggestions on what I should do to find out about interviews? I really don't want to contact the director again.

Who did you call? Did you call the School Psych department? They have various emails, secretary and professors.
I know they aren't the most organized, but email worked better for me in the past with various schools including Southern.

Does your friend like the counseling program?

My friend absolutely loves the counseling program. I believe she has a year left. The thing she likes the best is how internships are built into the program, and are not part of an additional certificate. That allows you to use what you are learning right away.

I tried the only number for the school psy. dept., other than the director, that I could find. Same for the e-mail. I just don't get how the secretary can have a full voicemail that seems to never get checked and she never replies to e-mails. It is quite frustrating.

I heard from a "friend of a friend" they are interviewing until the 15th at Southern.

Congrats LR88 on Northeastern! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it and had every intention of attending with you until I was unexpectedly accepted into my top/dream school. I have to admit though it was hard to turn down. The faculty were so incredibly nice and had fabulous personalities. I'm sure you'll love it there 🙂

I'm still waiting on a decision from one school and another is writing/mailing me about whether I am maltriculating. I wrote once telling them I needed time to compare offers, finances were important to me although they were number 1 one on my list, can it hurt you to wait until the due date, I can't make this other school hurry their decision and it would save me a lot of money.
