Schools with high rate of Internal MSTP acceptance?

I'm currently in a dilemma where I have somewhat decent stats for MD admissions but not so great stats for MSTP programs. I was wondering if there are medical schools where it's easier to get into as a MD student than their MSTP program?

What schools have a high acceptance of internal MSTP applications?

I think it depends more on your application than them. If you're an MD-only student going to school at a particular place that routinely accepts a class full of applicants with better qualifications than you, you'd probably not be very likely to be offered a position.

In general the answer is to think about MD programs with large MSTPs. I doubt you'll get many more responses more specific than that.

The question MSTP adcoms are often asking themselves is: "Is this someone we would have accepted had they applied to MD/PhD directly?" If your application is not competitive for MD/PhD, it's not necessarily going to be moreso after a year or two of medical school. Now, they make take into account your medical school performance and any research you do during medical school, and if you are particularly impressive I suppose that could tip them. But, my advice is MD -> MD/PhD as an internal transfer should only be for those who decide after they start medical school that they've made the wrong decision.

If you have not yet applied, the right approach would be to improve your application and concentrate on what MD/PhD programs might accept you. It would help us to properly advise you if we knew what your stats actually were. I've seen "not so great stats" turn out to mean not competitive for medical school at all and turn out to mean wtf were you thinking about not being competitive with your 3.9/39 and many years of research

I know at a few of the top MSTP programs the 1-2 people admitted internally every year are usually people who applied mstp the year before, we're wait listed MSTP, did not get off the wait list, and decided to go MD only to the school with the intention of applying to transfer. It seems to me like these spots are often for people who were competitive and the school liked but just missed getting in and really want to go to that specific school.
