Schools with Pediatrics Focus?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone may know of medical schools that have a strong pediatrics program/mission? I'm beginning to consider what schools to apply to next cycle (2027-28), and my future goals include working in pediatrics, particularly neurodivergent populations. Pretty much all of my activities (research, clinical, non-clinical) revolve around working with disabled and neurodivergent kids, so I would greatly appreciate any recommendations on schools that might fit this!

For more context, I'm a CA ORM so would love any OOS-friendly recommendations 🙂

If you’re looking for niche peds in school, you’ll probably get the most resources out of the schools associated with top children’s hospitals like Boston, CHOP, National, CHLA, Rady, etc.

But yeah, you can probably tailor something at any medical school, especially if they have child psych connections.

Certainly any medical school will train you in pediatrics well and give you some exposure to the population you are interested in. However, if really interested in trying to tailor your experience a bit, look for schools that have an elective rotation in developmental pediatrics or several developmental pediatricians (DBP) on their staff and/or a specific autism program that they are part of. This would tend to be some of the larger pediatric hospitals, etc, but not always. Good luck moving forward, this is a great field, albeit not a highly compensated one.

Your research project should inform you about programs where you want to attend. Basically you want to compare children's hospitals that each medical school is connected to and cross reference against your research peers.

But you won't be treating children exclusively in medical school. Don't come across with all your activities being focused on children, underrepresented or not.
