Do any of you know which schools have second look weekends for accepted students? Is it the majority of schools, or only a select few? I have only heard about one during interviews, but at the same time people saying you should try and attend as many as possible like they are everywhere. Thanks.

i was under the impression that most schools have second look weekends. in fact, some will even pay for your flight out and put you up with a student so you have don't have to spend any more money. i know northwestern does this.

Case/Cleveland Clinic has second look. Last year students were put up at the Intercontinental hotel and had their travel covered up to a certain amount (i think $300)

I know Vandy has one where they pay for everything. Wash U supposedly has a real nice one too, although I don't remember them mentioning it during the interview day.

Many of the state schools do not have official weekends set aside for second looks. However, many of them will let you come a see the campus a second time.

Add the University of Miami to the list (with an asterisk). UM is thinking about adding a second look weekend.

does loyola have one?

Would any school not let you come and see the campus? Are you saying they will set you up with a tour and info or just walk around on your own accord?

We should set up a list of second look weekends so that people can plan. Here are a few that I've seen floating around. Feel free to add some more if you know of them.

Second Look Weekend Dates
U Chicago (Pritzker): five dates (Feb 10, Mar 6, Apr. 7, Apr. 17, May 1)
U Mich: Apr. 22-24

What if you're one of the sad-sacks on the waitlist. Can you still come?

I might be wrong but I don't think they do. When I asked them about a second look weekend they just said I could set up a individual visit through the admissions committee.

Anybody else know??

How come you people got into multiple med schools but you can't alphabetize four school names??? 😛 😉 hobbes, I seem to remember being told Baylor has an April date also, but we'll put it down for no date set yet for now until we hear more in Jan. If anyone hears anything differently from any of these, feel free to correct me and/or add more schools.

Second Look Weekend Dates
Baylor: second look date will be announced in Jan. and will probably be in April
Case Western: March 24-26
Loyola: contact the school to make individual arrangements
Northwestern: April 6-8
U Chicago (Pritzker): five dates (Feb 10, Mar 6, Apr. 7, Apr. 17, May 1)
U Miami: may announce an official date in the future, but contact the school to make arrangements
U Mich: Apr. 22-24
USF: contact the school to make individual arrangements

I think Jefferson has one but I don't know when.

What exactly happens at these second look weekends? I'd love to find out more about schools, but I'm not available on Saturdays. Are all of the second looks on Saturdays, or do they also do things on Sundays?

I think you can do as much or as little as you want. There won't be any penalty for skipping some of the events. It's an opportunity for you to meet more people, look around the school more, try to decide if you want to go there. Are you strictly observant, tigress? I mean, would you be willing to attend a Friday night dinner assuming that they could provide a kosher meal for you and you could avoid driving anywhere, or you don't want to do anything at all during the Sabbath?

Well...yeah, I'm strictly observant. The problem would be in getting into buildings without automatic doors and all that sort of craziness. But I'm somewhat flexible, so we'll see. Thanks for the response 🙂

In any case Jefferson is the only school I'd be interested in going to for a second look. But since I live in Philly I could probably just as easily go sometime and meet students and such.

I would like Pritzker and Loyola to give me a First Look.

Is there any way we could also list whether or not the schools help pay for the trips for the second look weekends? I, for one, am interested in what Michigan's contribution is...

Duke has a second look weekend, although I am not sure what the date will be. Anyone know?

lol, I never thought about the automatic doors. I think a lot of them can be opened manually as well. The building where I work has both kinds, so you'd be ok if there were a situation like that. But you're probably right that it would just be easier to visit on another day instead of Fri/Sat. 🙂
