Can I ask a psychopharmacology professor for a rec as one of the 2 science LORs? To be fair, the class is basically a lot of neuroscience and not psychology-like at all. I know that AMCAS will re-classify the class if they think you didn't classify correctly, but how will they deal with rec letters from a psychopharm class?

If I classify psychopharm as BCPM and they don't think it is BCPM, will that delay the processing of my AMCAS question? I emailed AMCAS and they weren't too helpful.

I was officially a Psyc major, but I took a lot of Biopsyc/neuroscience classes. I took a "behavioral pharmacology" class, classified it as BCPM, and it wasn't changed. It seemed like AMCAS felt like I labeled my courses appropriately. I judged by the content of the course and labeled accordingly, and it seemed to work out. Good luck!

So then I should be able to use a lor from this class as one of the science lors?

I think yes? It might be best to check with a pre-health advisor at your school to be sure.

Pharmacology is not classified as BCPM, but is still science. It's an allied health science. I would think this would count as a "science professor LOR".

Thank you all so much!
