Howdy!

So I'm currently applying right now during a gap year working in an ER. I graduated last winter, and want to keep some contact with academia. I was curious to see if anyone had recommendations for podcasted lectures or online courses for anything, particularly science or medicine?

I listen to a few right now on Emergency Med (University of Virginia has a great one) just cause I find it interesting, and I am looking for more things to listen to while working out or during slow times on the job or during commutes.

Anyway, any suggestions would be great!

StarTalk - Hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson. Very interesting/entertaining podcast regarding anything and everything cosmic.

Dead Authors Podcast - More pure entertainment, but still highly enjoyable. Paul F. Tompkins (as H.G. Wells) interviews other comics in character as famous dead authors.

Enjoy!

Both of those sound awesome, Love Neil. Dead Authors podcast sounds great too

Thanks for the input!

Oh I have never heard of that, looks interesting though I can't access the whole site here at work

For podcasts, I recommend Persiflager's Infectious Disease (aka the PusCast) and This Week in Parasitism/This Week in Virology. All three can be found on Itunes under science and medicine.

👍

Mark Crislip (of PusCast) also does the Quackcast, which I like. The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe can vary in quality, imo, but is enjoyable from time to time, especially when Steven Novella goes on tangents about medicine.

I would re-recommend www.coursera.org

They have dramatically increased their catalog since it was last recommended and the classes are really quite excellent. I'm currently enrolled in 5 different classes and really am enjoying every single one of them.
