I think JHU lets you know in the last week of May or the first week of June. Not sure though.

I talked to someone in the MMI department and they said they were looking at ScM applications now and making decisions and that MHS could be still looked at well into June and even July! I just wanted to see how true this was. Kind of ridiculous.

Seriously. I actually forgot that applied to the MHS program. But I am applying to Cancer and Reproductive Biology one...seems like a solid program.

Yeah, I talked to MMI the other day they are still processing even though I turned in my application over a month ago...Kristy, do you know how competitive it is to get into the ScM at MMI???

O yeah, also did they say how they were going to contact you about their final decision? The status on the applyyourself website is has not changed...lol

No, I have no idea how competitive it is...
I really don't know when or how they will contact me but I am really hoping they will accept me. I am holding other acceptances and if I have to move or something it'd be nice to know..

Yeah, I hope so to. It looks like a really neat program.

I am scared to call back the admissions coordinator, she seems like a nice person but I think she is getting a bit annoyed with me and my calls to check the status of my application....hahahaha 😳

I probably will be calling in on Monday. Who else is applying to MHS in Cancer and Reproductive Biology?

I applied to MMI....from what people tell me you can take classes in Cancer and Reproductive Biology...we should all get in that way we call all take classes together...lol

Krist, important question, how did you apply to two programs? Did you have to fill out another application or did you use the old one??

I used separate applications...which also means that I paid multiple application fees.

Well I got into the MHS program, but I'm wondering if it's really worth 34K in tuition. I would love to go to Hopkins and have a degree from such a great institution but, dang, it is sooooooo expensive. Anyone else here is the same predicament? Also, if there is any current MHS Hopkins students on here, how are you paying for your schooling?

what were your stats? if I get in I will go even if it is expensive..but thats just me. I also live in Baltimore so I'd already have a place and everything.

well I got admitted into the MMI MHS program today. Who else will be joining me? I am really excited but it's gonna be soo expensive :\

I graduated from the JHSPH program with a ScM in the biochem department in 2004 and am currently a fourth year at UMaryland. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this program, the faculty, and the institution. While the price tag is high, working hard at this program can make you a strong candidate for medical school if that is your goal. Many go through this program and choose another career, and coming away with a degree from the best public health school in the country is fairly solid. My year, students went to Stony Brook, NYU, Einstein, Jefferson, UVA, UFlorida, and NYMC. I know the next year students went to the Armed Service program, Dartmouth, UMDNJ, amoung others.

It is important for you to realize that if your goal is medical school, the MMI program is probably not the best way to go. That specific program is not created to help students get into medical school, whereas the biochem and molecular bio is much more geared towards those with an interest in medicine.

If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me or post them and I can try to help you in any way I can.

Just wondering what stats you need to get into the program?

How difficult is it to get in to these programs at JHU? Stats?

While the biochem program is basically all premed at least 6 of the MMI MHS's applied to medical school or are applying to medical school. The MHS program in general is perfect for the year off. I am doing the ScM 2 year lab program now because I loved it so much.

As far as I know, stats are all over the boards..some people barely have a 3.0 while I know there are some people who were on deans lists, etc.. but in my program pretty much everyone has ended up doing well.

i just got accepted to the reproductive biology and cancer MHS today and just hoping to meet some people that also got in and are planning on accepting.

What were your stats/GPA like? I am interested in applying for next year.

i had a 3.3 gpa, but my gpa for my last two years was over a 3.6. 29O mcat, and i've done volunteer work and some research. I was asking the student affairs lady about where i stand in the class and she said that my scores were highly competitive for the entering class.

hope that helps, good luck next year 🙂

Do you know if they accept recommendations via services like Interfolio?
