I know that the books say that it is not an accurate reflection of my MCAT score, but for some reason, I'm doing really badly on the Physics and Chemistry exams (anywhere from 8-10 🙁 ). I feel like I understand the material before I take the exams but for some reason, I'm not doing as well as I expected. Should I be discouraged about my low scores? (I know I know....the only way I can really get an idea of where I stand is by taking the AAMC tests but I'm saving those for the end when I know all my stuff, hopefully) Thanks ahead of time for the input.

No, some of those exams are really hard. (The 30 min exam for thermo killed me) They are used more for learning than for getting an accurate feel of how you will do.

exactly right, B.

EK even says the 30 min exams are set up to be particularly difficult. Ace those and you're sitting pretty, my friend.

G'Luck.

I hope you guys are right. That was what I was thinking too but the instructors seem to have the attitude that if you aren't doing well on those exams, then "there must be something that you're doing wrong" type attitude. They haven't said that the exams are supposed to "teach" us. They just assume that you should be able to do them. 😡

Get it right from the source then, aka jordan and jon who made these books. 🙂 Thats what they told me at least.

No I've posted on their forums prior, asking the exact question the poster did and they replied that the 30 minute exams really aren't an accurate reflection of your scores. They are more of a learning tool than anything else.

This is so encouraging! I just took 5 of the gen chem ones and scored 8-10...except on the thermo one, which bgreet, I got a 7 on. So no worries...we'll be ok

Is it just me, or does anyone else think 10 is a good score. When I take those tests, I am happy with a 9 or 10. If I get 10s on the real MCAT I will be very happy.

100%. 10-10-10 is a very pretty score, IMO. I think I can go 10+ on bio and verbal, but physical is another story. A 10 in physical would make my year 🙂 ...What's everyone else's weakness?

Ha, I can so relate to this thread. Bio is my weakest subject, and I got a 7 on a few of the 30-minute lectures. Thing is, I definitely know atleast 90% of the material, and they do construct these to be pretty hard. They give you like half of the info you learned in the passage itself, then ask you some questions about something you've never heard of lol. They do help you learn the material even better though. I wouldn't worry OP, I think an 8-10 is great on those and is not a real predictor of anything. I, like you, am waiting to finish my books until I start aamc and kaplan tests. Should be this week some time. Anyhow, don't get discouraged.

Me too! All I get on phy are 8-9s. I hope I do better in the real thing... In bio and Chem, I have ~11, 10 Org and 8 Verb (english is my second language). Let's see how things go with the real thing. Can people post what they got in the real thing vs EK?

For me, the 30 minute exam questions seem tougher than the practice MCAT questions. Is that also what I'm gathering from this thread?

I've been doing much better on the practice MCATs than on the 30 minute exams.

I've been getting 10-13 on the Bio 30 minute exams, 9-13 on the Chem (Thermo killed me!!), and 7-10 on the Physics. Organic, I've only done one and got an 11. Verbal....that's a whole different story (6-8). Physics and Verbal are my worst subjects. I'm doing well on the these exams but when it comes to doing a practice MCAT, I'm not seeing any increases in my scores. This is getting really frustrating..... 😡

Also, most of the questions that I miss is because I read the question wrong. Are any of you guys having the same trouble?? Some of those questions on the 30 minute exams are just like WTF are they asking??!
