I think u may be misunderstanding the Pcat. It is not a easy test that you can just take it and pass it. U need to prepare for it. Good luck to you next time.

U can do it. It just takes a while. Try to prepare for Pcat now. At least next year, you can be more confident when taking the pcat.

Making a mistake on recording the answers on ALL sections? To be blunt, I don't anyone other then an idiot would make a mistake like that. I think you may misunderestimated the PCAT. How did you feel after you took the test? Did you feel like did much better? Also, how and what sources of material did you use to prepare? A month of studying should be enough...

Dont worry, I have bad luck too..It just takes determination and possibly a change of study skills and maybe a couple of years(for me) to figure out what's wrong with you ..lol.
I also wouldn't have recommended taking it as the same time you are taking 7 hours summer course work.

i think i would be better off if i had to guess, i left them blank(actually i didnt have time to guess), but i finished the biology part, and i had thought it was easy but still the score (biology) was about the same % with the others.probably i didnt know how to take the test,i should've probably done the easy parts and do the ...

First of all, have you taken the prerequisite coursework? If you haven't taken certain classes, the PCAT will be much much tougher. Add the fact that it doesn't seem like you practiced how to take the test (and were completely unprepared in terms of gauging the timing of the exam), it is entirely possible your score is legitimate. Harcourt doesn't usually make mistakes like that. I would definitely suggest not only reevaluating your readiness for the test, but the mentality with which you approach the entire exam, preparation process, and application process. I guarantee you, if you do your application like the way you performed on the exam, it will not be a happy application cycle for you. You are supposed to be a professional. Blaming the test, test conditions, or your unreadiness is no excuse. If you want to join the profession of pharmacy, kindly act like one, because otherwise you're in for a rude awakening if/when you get to the interview.

Personally, I don't even think it was just a mistake of recording answers. I think you need to evaluate how prepared you are prior to taking an exam. In addition, if you already knew that you had trouble with timing or knew that you had trouble with the exam questions, you should have cancelled the score instead of getting it scored. You may have to explain in the future to adcoms why you received a 3%. It's not so easy to do without making yourself look irresponsible in the process.

this is scary... I blindly guessed 10-15 questions on Math.. 🙁 .. Without knowing the score,I feel unmotivated and regretted every time I tried to write supp essay in for those OCT pcat schools.

I have decided that I will retake PCAT anyhow coz one of my top choice school (UGA) has high average PCAT. It would be miracle I can get up to 97%

Kaplan is an okay book, but since you are struggling with the PCAT you should definitely use other sources too. Kaplan really lacks on O.chem and math. Cliff's and ARCO have some good sample tests. Using old textbooks and notes from pre-reqs is good too. Good luck!

Do note that you'll set a red flag at Harcourt you've improved your PCAT score by over 50 points over a 13-month period. Since you would have above a 53 for a competitive PCAT score, you probably should start thinking about how you will appeal the revocation of a better PCAT score.

Really? I've never heard of this before. I don't need to worry about this, but I'm very curious how many points improvement is enough to be flagged, and what that whole process is.

Don'tGiveUp - I'm glad that you are full of confidence. However, don't get cocky - pharmacists not only need confidence, they need the skills to back it up! You've made many mistakes in your posts - I think it would be great practice for the verbal/reading/writing sections to practice perfect grammar and spelling whenever possible. Is English your first language?

Maybe you should try reading that Candidate Information Booklet. 😉 I agree it seems like a stupid rule, but someone probably cheated and they thought it was necessary.

Here is the nitty-gritty on the rule:

Cancellation of Scores Due to Questionable Score Gain
If an examinee’s scores seem questionable when compared to PCAT scores obtained by the examinee during the previous 13-month period, the scores may be canceled. When scores are canceled for this reason, no scores will be reported to the examinee or to any score recipient schools. Harcourt Assessment follows a strict policy in determining when a score gain is questionable and thus invalid. The following explanation of this policy refers to scaled score points, which are reported on the personal Score Report and the Official Transcripts.

• If the Composite scaled score and percentile rank on the most recent test are 50 or more points greater than the previous test Composite scores, an invalidation of the most recent test scores, including the Writing scores, automatically occurs due to the large score gain.

• The examinee is notified that his or her scores have been invalidated and that the scores will never be reported to anyone. If the examinee feels that the score gain of 50 or more Composite scaled score and percentile rank points was achieved through legitimate effort, the examinee must
contact PSE Customer Relations immediately upon receiving the invalidation
notification to appeal the invalidation. Within 60 days of the last PCAT test date, the examinee must then submit (via mail or fax) documentation as evidence to support the legitimacy of the score gain. anyways, isn't it VERY possible to score really low on a PCAT...since the composite score is a measure of how well u did against everybody else? so...if u get 3%... doesn't that mean u've only beaten a few of the other ppl who's taken the test?

with that said... PCAT really isn't that hard, at all. 3% is quite silly...

If I took the test in grade 8, I could have gotten at least 30%. You are definately not fit to be in Pharmacy or even university/college for that matter I sincerely hope you are a troll because getting 3% would mean you are a complete failure at life.

If there will be ever a pharmacist that got 3% on their pcat their first try (doesn't matter if they got 80% on their next try.. unless they were completely hung over and hallucinating the first try) I would leave the profession because I would not want to be associated with that type of person.

i agree, grammar is a HUGE problem. It's a problem if you are taking the PCAT, taking a writing sample if you managed to get an interview, and during the interview process itself. It's also a problem when drafting your personal statement.

So in short, if you can't get that straight in real life, you will have serious issues getting into a pharmacy program.
