So I'm always curious about this.

How did you come up with your screen name? I'll start. browniegirl86 was my first email address (@hotmail, it's gone now) and so it just kind of stuck. I was in 6th grade I think setting up an email address, and I couldn't think of a good name, so I looked around the desk and saw a Brownie Girl Scout Handbook. browniegirl was taken in hotmail, so they stuck an 86 on the end, and history was made.

Just funny because only one part of the name really fits: I AM a girl. Other than that, I'm shockingly pale and was born in 83.

😳

Well, I got to make it in life...so my screen name is gottamakeit 😀

Brownie - your self-description made me laugh out loud. I assumed you were born in 86, so the whole "born in 83 and shockingly pale" bit was great.

I went to school in San Diego (hence the "SanDiego" part), and "SOD" is short for Students for Organ Donation, an organization I play a part in. Check the signature for more info. 🙂

Good thread, BTW, I always enjoy these threads.

Doctor...its what I want to be

Thank you and thank you.

I'll be here all day, every day, all week.

Fairly new to SDN. I just feel like a Babylonian, hence Babylonian!! In actuality, since I live in a country devoted to materialism and the pursuit of sensual pleasure, I figured that we have something in common with the good ole Babylonia folks.

Check avatar: I intend to rule the medical world

...as well as the soda industry.

Pepsi beware.

I grew up in germany for half my life (my dad is german, my mom is american).
Verrückt is german for crazy, which i felt at the time i signed up, overwhelmed and stressing about the MCAT actually.
However, i mis-spelled it because i am an awful speller regardless of the language 🙂

I look like Doctor Octopus. Bowl haircut, thick-framed glasses, green form-fitting clothing.

Just kidding. The octopus is my favorite thing to see when I go scuba diving.

I agree with SanDiegoSOD, this is a fun thread!

So I stole my name from SNL when "Burt Reynolds" refers to himself as "Turd Ferguson" on "Jeopardy." I have no idea what made me think of it, and I spelled "turd" wrong anyway.

from the Tanner stages of development...I'll let you figure out for yourself

I"m black, and to me, when you say "Docta Jay" it sounds like a cool, black, doctor. Its also what I want all my patients too call me, whether that will work or not, I'm not sure.

Anybody that plays poker should get my name 😉

P nasty is a nickname some of my friends call me and also part of my xbox id (my first name starts with a 'P' and I used to be pretty good at basketball, hence the nasty)

no, i never peed on anything :meanie:

A spider interrupted my registration. 😳

I saw it crossing the floor and put a glass over it. Took me a few minutes to calm down after I took it outside (they give me the creeps, but hey...)

Anyway, when I sat back down, I wrote the obvious.

Regret it now, but oh, well. 🙄

I grew in up in a small, non-diverse town in Northern Jersey. I was one of the few Indians, and the only one who knew how dance Bharathanatyam. Picked it as an email address in HS, and got it as a sn later. 🙂

This is fun! Good post!

OwnageMobile was a moniker I used in a clan when I played the video game "Medal of Honor" on the internet (PC yo). I do tend to make everything into a competition, and tend to use "own" in this connotation often. So I figured the name applied to scholastic doings as well.

If you get killed by OwnageMoblie, or OwnageKinase, it was me 😉 . It's all DOD:S now for those who are feeling me.

wait, so you're optimistic about the flop? what's the "otomist" part refer to?

Gerrymandering = my first name (except spelled with a J) and the -mandering is just a joke. In politics, Gerrymandering means To divide (a geographic area) into voting districts so as to give unfair advantage to one party in elections. Pretty Extreme huh? 🙂

The screename popped in my head when i was thinking back to my high school American Government class. So however you interpret the name, just remember it's contradictory to what my beliefs are! I hate organized politics just remember that...(don't mistaken me for an Anarchist)

Rogue, because my screen name has been "RogueTwo" since 1995, and "Synapse" because I study synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus and amygdala. Plus, the idea of a renegade synapse is kinda cool. Insane in the membrane...

my first pet was a cat named bozo. my current dog's name is sparky! i love my pets!!!

i really like the good, the bad, and the ugly (it's a movie, if you didn't know).
that's why i my avatar is tuco, the "ugly."

see ya,
bozosparky

My buddies and I would make up crazy superheroes with powers based on physical principles. One was Friction Control Man, who could alter the coefficient of friction between any two surfaces. Mine reflected my degrees, and his power was to change the value of Gibbs free energy for any reaction. Thus, Rxn (abbrev. for "reaction.") + Man = Superhero

your name sounds real eerie! it reminds me of a hideous laboratory professor mixing and making solutions to destroy

awesome s/n BTW 👍

i suppose i was feeling rather unoriginal the day i signed up... 😴

Greatest Commodores Song Ever! as in "she's a ...."

you might be too young to know it! :scared:

Been my aol.com email address for probably 10 years - I just like the song lyrics - at times I feel "mighty mighty" and like "lettin' it all hang out".
Plus I'm 5'10 - and I imagine the Commodores were singing to a tall chick.

my son is named Mies after the architect Mies Van Der Roeh. Thus, I am MiesVanDerMom.

MediMama has no significance whatsoever. I thought I had to put something medical in there; that was enough for me.

23 is my favorite number.

In Dublin's fair city
Where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

She was a fish-monger
But sure 'twas no wonder
For so were her mother and father before,
And they both wheeled their barrows
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

Alive, alive, oh, alive, alive, oh,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

She died of a fever
And no one could save her
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone.
Now her ghost wheels her barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

My avatar is of the statue of Molly that stands in Dublin near Trinity College.

At the time I discovered SDN I was taking 9 credits worth of physics and orgo while working two lab jobs as a Medical Technologist, oh and we were planning a wedding.

So I pretty much looked like my avatar 😉

In truth, any other cool Lab(insert word here) name was taken so I had to settle for this crap.

I like to eat alot and I will pretty much eat anything. I'm asian so even though im 22, I look like im 14 so hence "pacboy" as oppose to "pacman"

People find it quite humorous that I am (extremely) Type A, but never realized it.

Escanaba in da Moonlight is a play and now movie by Jeff Daniels. It's a deer-hunting comedy based in my hometown, Escanaba, MI. Wayne David Parker plays Jimmer Negamanee from Menominee, and is nicknamed dajimmers. He's absolutely hilarious. My name's James, so I picked it.

Mine's one of the (drosophila) genes I've worked on... It's also the name of a Shakespeare character I guess, but I'm not nearly cultured enough to claim inspiration from that.

My nickname is a contraction of my real name. This one guy in highschool, upon learning what my name was, proceeded to tell me about how loved to eat donairs. From that point on he continued to call me donair and the nickname stuck.
