So I applied to AACOMAS and withdrew my application a couple days later because of a change of heart, NOT because I was accepted to another school I decided to do 4 years of active duty in the Marine Corps and eventually come back to medical school (yes, if I'm alive) and have the GI bill to pay for my school. Family tradition and just always wanting to do it made me follow my heart (and yes I know I could've done the HPSP, but Marines don't have doctors!), so I applied in October and a couple of items were missing. I left it how it was hoping that they would refund me my almost $700 and to this day on my home page it says Application submitted: NO and Application Submitted to AACOMAS: No. In their terms and conditions it states once an application is submitted they cannot refund but it says mine was never submitted on my home page! Every time I try to talk to them the representative does NOT let me state my case and begins to act unprofessionally raising their tone and voice and today I was hung up on twice and not even raising my tone! Isn't this a case of services never rendered? Now I'm a stubborn mother, so I ain't going down without a fight but something like this makes me mad because we all know what they should do morally and ethically and of all places its a medical school application but yet they do not. I am even thinking of taking this to court anyone have a similar experience? What exactly are services rendered when it comes to AACOMAS?

Presumably you paid the fee with a credit card?

Contact your card issuer and advise them that you have a dispute with the merchant. They will initiate a claim and, if they find in your favor, you can get the full refund. No guarantees, though.

It may just end up being the high cost of having changed your mind at the last minute.

It might say no, but don't you enter your payment information then click submit? I don't remember. It's been awhile.

You are right but I guess technically since I haven't added everything that needs to be on there my application has not been processed nor sent out to the schools.

Did you withdraw your application or did you just submit your application and, since you didn't send in all your documents, left it as it was?

Not sure why you would assume they'd just give you your money back just because you didn't submit your LoRs or transcripts? Also, you submitted your app last October, how many times have you talked to AACOMAS since then?

Not trying to sound flippant, but it sounds like you messed up to the tune of $700.

But you don't pay fees until you submit your application. You can only withdraw if you submitted your application. Before you pay they tell you it not refundable and you agree to it. Not going to have much luck in court.

I did man, I technically clicked the submit button but since I haven't turned in all the documents the status of the application read and still reads not submitted, so I don't know where that is going to take me. Well I tried to dispute it and the card company said they would have reversed the charge if it was within the time frame since it blatantly says it is not submitted but who the heck knows. I think that's wrong on their part, even if it states in terms and conditions because the service was not rendered in any way shape or form and that's $700 I worked for and an easy $700 in someone's pocket. I would have returned that and I see that as being nothing short of a thief but I guess that's just me, just feel like some people lack honor these days.

Unfortunately you agreed to their no-refunds policy by hitting submit. No matter the situation, agreeing to their terms of service is pretty damning for you.

Maybe it says not submitted because you withdrew. But I can understand how this can be frustrating. I would feel the same way but I know what I agreed to before I hit pay. Good luck.

Nothing stops you from taking it to small claims court, but if you hit the submit button, you're pretty much toast. The status on the website not reading submit doesn't negate the fact that you did hit the button to submit, which is evident by your payment.

*tear* well thanks anyways fellas, I appreciate the help. Not going to waste my time anymore with this, best of luck in your future endeavors.
