Hi everyone, I’m currently a PCT in a cancer unit and I feel like I have adequate clinical experience. I’ve also gotten the chance to shadow a psychiatrist for ~25 hours. With COVID still being a thing, I found other shadowing opportunities difficult to find. I was able to find a family medicine doctor to shadow, but she eventually asked me if I could scribe for her for a few hours per week. This is what I’m currently doing but I was wondering if I still need to find other shadowing opportunities?

If this is in-person scribing, in general I think you'll be fine, especially if you can ask the doc to let you accompany her during non-patient contact time, too, observing her during phone calls, staff & insurance interactions, record keeping requirements, etc. Recall that 40 hours of shadowing is the desired minimum and 50 hours is the average listed.

You should be fine- I have quite a few friends with no shadowing/only scribing who were very successful in applying.
