Day 1: Promises, Prizes, and a New Leader!

The sun had barely slipped past its midday peak when the fairgrounds turned into a frenzy of posters, jingles, and impassioned speeches. The staff had taken the call for a new leader to heart, and the campaigning was in full swing. By the Ferris wheel, a tall woman in a striped shirt called out to the crowd, promising smoother rides, longer hours, and most enticing of all, two-for-one funnel cakes every Friday. Her smile was dazzling, her handshakes firm, and her voice carried over the music of the carousel.

Not far away, a man near the fairgrounds entrance waved his clipboard for emphasis, declaring that under his watch, every ride would be run with fairness and precision. "No ticket skipped, no line jumped!" he barked, and for a moment, it almost felt like he was already in charge. Meanwhile, across the midway, almost drowned out by the sound of quacking ducks, a soft-spoken figure made their case in quieter tones, offering visions of harmony, care, and a fair where everyone felt at home. Their gentle words and shy smile had more sway than some expected.

Soon the campaigns turned to more... unconventional routes of persuasion. One after another, cats were paraded before the crowd, soft, purring bundles of fur presented with a flourish. Appeals to the voters’ hearts, and to their well-known weakness for whiskers, echoed almost as loudly as the questionable promises of tax cuts, and hats for every animal in the petting zoo.

One crew member stood at the crossroads of the booths, wringing their hands and muttering to themselves, torn between futures that looked equally convincing. Their indecision was echoed by others in the crowd, voices rising and falling as impossible promises piled up like cotton candy.

In the end, though, one voice rose above the din. The woman who kept the rides humming and the crowds cheering had struck the right chord. Her campaign was full of energy, her confidence infectious, and the crew rallied to her side.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon and the lights began to twinkle across the fairgrounds, the votes were tallied, and the decision was clear: the fair had its new leader.

A cheer rose from the midway as the fair’s loudspeakers crackled to life.

“Ladies and gentlemen, staff and fairgoers alike, the results are in! By popular decision, your new Mayor of the Fair has been elected! Let the celebrations begin, and may this season shine brighter than ever before!”

The crowd erupted once more, the music swelled, and for now, the fair buzzed with the promise of a bright season ahead. And if the cotton candy clouds stretched a little pinker than usual, or the carousel horses seemed to neigh with extra cheer, well, everyone knew it was just good luck for the start of the season.​

I don’t actually have a dog of my own, as I’m allergic! But I do collaborate with our vet school on some of their clinical trials for dogs with cancer, so I feel like that makes me an honorary dog guy?

I voted for beans early on because someone mentioned they did well in the last game. I probably would have fallen for rae or indy’s briberies (cat photos) had I been active during the time they were campaigning, but I think beans will do great! Yay for funnel cakes!

After checking the federal income tax rates, these are actually some of the LOWEST tax rates for single earners under $100k.

So fruit thinks my taxes on the wolves were "good rates", but they were actually very low.

Fruit does not want high taxes for wolves.

Mayhaps because fruit is ...a wolf who earns less than $100k/yr?

I’d be inclined to say yeet Vampy since they’re not participating (for good reason) and if we don’t get a sub for them, we can get this going and get our feet wet, try out the ol’ training wheels?

Be careful about strategizing at night, the wolves are choosing their first target right now and if we talk about our strong village/scum reads we're just giving them ideas for who to take out.
