Hello SDN, I have mentioned this before, but situation has changed a bit.

Reapplicant, 6 interview invites, went to 5. I am currently taking 3 upper div, in which 2 of them, the same professor takes attendance. My attendance grade (which is 10% of the total grade), went to a B range, and with interviews, school, part time job, it has been a very busy semester. I received a 7th II, but after consulting to the pre-health advisors, they seemed it was best to postpone the 7th II, since missing more class would lower the attendance portion of the grade, increasing my chance of getting anything lower than A or A-. I had contacted the admissions office to schedule post-december, but there were no available dates yet, and the message was, since admission is rolling basis, if I do not attend the assigned dates, I won't be able to interview with the school after the assigned dates. I am very thankful for all these IIs as a reapplicant, but since there is no "guarantee" in this admission process, in the worst case scenario (knocking the wood), if I don't get in this year, fall grades will be important when I reapply.

Should I attend the interview or decline the offer?

Thank you!

All I can say is that I'm incredibly sorry you go to a school where your professors aren't willing to work with you for your interviews. Shame on them! They should want their students to be successful and apply to various programs after undergrad. I just don't think you are being treated fairly at all.
What is their reasoning for not excusing your absences? I'm sure you get all of your work done, regardless of whether or not you have to miss class.

You should attend the interview and If your prof keeps on being unreasonable, you must take this to the program director or the dean of your faculty, seriously.
There is a difference between not going to class because you were hung over and not going because you have to go to interviews to advance your EDUCATION.
What's with people these days, this is absolutely pathetic .

Go to your interview. This isn't close. If my option was get a B, as a REAPPLICANT, or go on my 7th interview, I choose the interview every time. You're in the spot of merely risking a B. As others have said, deans can often be very reasonable people. I would. Go in there, rock the interview and give that guy the finger when your acceptances roll in.

drop the class and attend the interview.

As long as you get accepted this cycle, a "B" won't result in a rescinded offer. I'd go to the interview....but only if you can afford it. My interviews are costing a fortune right now.

If you're getting a B (let's say 75%) for the attendance grade that is only worth 10% of your total mark, you've only lost about 2.5% of your total mark for the class.... if I'm understanding this correctly, by attending the interview and missing ONE class you would only be losing probably less than a percent of your total grade?...

I see absolutely no reason not to attend the interview.

Glimmer, thank you for your words. He did acommodate for one of the midterms but I don't know why he is not willing to accommodate for a few attendance points.

MAdental, illfavor, sigh, thank you for the suggestion.

AVB2104, at this point, I would get a 3Ws+tuition fee lost+ bad academic update lol.

Jaesango, I know. I am so glad I had some money saved, which is all gone now , sigh.

Jungerr, you are right it's only few points and it can be very insignificant. But I think it's unfair that some students's would benefit by having a perfect attendance but lower test scores, while if I merely make near 90% on all my tests/assignments and receive a B+ due to attendance. When it comes to academics, I am not one of those who if gets a B or C, tries to stay optimistic by saying: I will get an A if I get 95% or 100% in the final. I am more paranoid about my grades, b/c my overrall GPA is not stellar, so I have been a student who tries to secure as many points as possible in every assignment/test without annoying professors for extra credit. Also, as I mentioned as above, worst case scenario if I don't get accepted in december 2nd, I might receive post-december interviews if my academic update grades are good.

Thank you everyone. I am scheduling it this Monday.
