Hi Guys
I opened this new account b.c my old SDn screename is also the same as that of my primary email address which I use to communciate with interships, jobs, professional networking.

When someone googles that screenname/email ID, all my desperate posts on SDN come up! OMG!

What to do now? How to change that? I can pay $20 and have the ability to delete posts but can I delete posts from 1 year ago or so?

Change your email address. Problem solved.

Change your email to something that is based on your actual name. It will be better for you in the long run. 'Sunshinehappykari@yahoo.com' just doesn't give off the same professional tone as say 'kjohnson@yahoo.com' does. Unless you're applying for internships at a gentlemen's club, that second email address is going to be better.

I agree. Create a new email and use that as your primary from now on. You'll still have to check the old email, but from this point forward I'd use a new one.

I'm not sure how legitimate this policy is, but some users that deactivate their account have had their username changed to a series of numbers. The posts remain, but your original username is gone.

I don't know how you would go about doing that.

The old username would still come up in Google cache.

dude, just become a donor. Then, if you request it, the mods will allow you to change your user name one time. The new username will be listed along side your old posts once this happens.

I've seen this done on SDN a couple of times.

Edit: btw, I doubt any adcoms are googling your email.

It will take a while, but who cares. Unless they see your posts they're not going to have the urge to google your screen name.

his original name will remain in any of his posts that were quoted by other posters, though. I was just reading a thread and noted this with Cougs.

Just edit all your posts to: 🙂 That way if schools search your name you will just be 🙂ing at them. 🙂

The numbers your username gets replaced with are the numbers at the end of the link on your user profile when people look you up on SDN. Your username may still show up in quoted text but it's probably the best you can do.

During registration you may have selected a name that now doesn't seem appropriate or is perhaps too personally identifying. Name change is unfortunately a complicated process which requires volunteer staff editing and temporarily disables our servers during the process. For these reasons, name changes are limited to donor members. To have your name changed, follow these steps:

1. Check that your donor status is active
2. Contact member services at http://help.studentdoctor.net/tickets/new using the same email that matches your forum account email
3. Please include a selection of at least three membernames that you would prefer (in case one is already taken)
4. For security purposes, a volunteer will send an email message to verify the request. You will need to respond before action occurs

Updates are generally batched to low-activity periods on the site. It may take up to 5 working days to update your account.

Hey!! there you go!!

Hire a crack team of ninja hackers. Locate the physical servers that SDN is located on. Break in and alter your profile/name/post information directly.

Find Google HQ. Repeat the process with their cache. Problem solved.

Not that I know where you could hire ninja hackers. Nope. Not a clue. Nothing to see here. I'm just a normal upstanding citizen. Move along please.

I just got quoted a price of $9034820.09 for a team of ninja hackers. I'd rather donate my $30 or whatever and be done with
