I have another suit that I did NOT wear to my interviews. Is a suit too formal for second look days? What are women wearing for these events? Thanks!

They way I see it, we're already in. They can't reject us now. I'm going to go less for formal and more for comfort- something like khaki pants and a nice shirt. 😀

For Cleveland Clinic's Revisit Weekend, they specifically said "Business Attire." I believe that's a full suit, right?

I'd find out if it's "business - casual" or "business - professional/formal"...cause "business attire" can range anywhere from khakis/polo -> slacks/dress shirt/no tie -> full suit. Better to ask for clarification than be the odd man out.

If I were going, I'd wear black pants, a fitted 3/4 length button down collared shirt, and comfortable shoes. 🙂 nobody will be pointing and laughing, and I'll be comfortable.

yeah, business attire means a suit. anything else is business casual. unless it specifically says casual, business attire is what you would wear to an interview/board meeting/etc.

Thanks for all your responses 🙂 I do want to wear my suit and I figure it's safer to be overdressed than underdressed 🙂 . Plus, it's a light-colored "sping season" suit, so it doesn't look as formal as dark suits.

Good call. Girl suits are hot! But make sure you wear some librarian glasses to top off the package. 😉

It depends where the 2nd look is located. Some schools specify "business casual" meaning that jeans or very bare looks might be too casual but a suit is too much. If the school says, "business" then maybe a suit is a good choice. Ctwick is, I think, at a school that specifies "business casual" and most students show up in chinos and polos or similar sportswear.

If I wear a pant suit, take the jacket off while I am there, I would look like the majority - in pants and a shirt, which makes me "business casual"

Well, and if it is a skirt suit you can always ditch the jacket if you you get there and want something a little less formal. Although I wouldn't wear the suit either.

hmmm maybe it's not called that then. i just mean the kind of pencil skirts that zip up to your waistline, unlike a low-rise skirt. actually i'm looking for one that zips up all the way, sort-of like an empire-waist.

I think business casual is the safest bet. I've been on 2 revisits and wore business casual for both (black cotton pants, button-down shirt), and I felt comfortable. These were both MSTP visits where we were meeting with faculty, which is probably more formal than anything you'd have to do at an MD revisit and business casual was perfectly fine. I was even told to dress casually for one of the visits (although I'm glad I didn't b/c everyone else was wearing nicer stuff, except one girl in ripped jeans, but anyway.....). One guy wore a suit and the administrators asked him why he was so formal.

i think it really depends on the school. my vibe from columbia is that the whole revisit is very casual. they even take you out to bars on the first night. i plan on wearing jeans at least the first day. maybe something somewhat nicer the second day when we meet the dean.

Wear your suit! 🙂 If you're comfortable in it and look good, then you can't go wrong. Like you said, it's better to be overdressed than underdressed and you can take off your jacket if you feel uncomfortable.

nah, i don't think so. as long as it fits it should look fine. you don't have to have no hips and be all skinny like those photos. and if you get a stretchy one, you can still pack a sourdough jack and onion rings while wearing it🙂

Hey I saw this fly pint stripped (not sure of the spelling) white pant suit at express the other day. You will not be alone because I am definitely going to wear it to the NW second look. I figure I will dress it down with some funky jewelry, a camisole, and my hair out. 👍

It's a rare day that I don't wear jeans and a t-shirt/sweater to class. Once I'm officially a student, I'll be focused on impressing with my brain, not my clothes. 🙂



and to the OP: wear whatever you're comfortable in. If you feel out of place, just remove your jacket. The suit sounds cute.

Hmmm I think for myself I will bring 3 types of outfits for second look weekends:

- Casual (meeting students, tours, exploring on my own): jeans, polo shirt (and maybe rainbow sandals if I feel like living on the edge)
- Business casual/whatever (meetings with deans, profs, researchers): charcoal slacks, dress shirt, no tie
- Clubbing: denim and button-down shirt of course 🙂

Oh yea, this is for a dude...hope that's obvious.
