Emory--Email says invites going out by end July
Southern Illinois University (SIU)
University of California, San Diego (UCSD)
University of Florida
*University of Pittsburgh (sent out a test group, the rest are yet to come)
University of Washington
University of Wisconsin
University of Miami (Sent out Invites 6-30, see above)
University of Rochester (Secondary available July 17)
VCU (People started passing screens 7-1)

*Since Pitt only sent out a test group, and their secondary is largely unavailable to everyone else, I have made an executive decision to relegate Pitt to the bottom category. Their test grouping seems like a bit like a screening, but looks like they are just trying to work out the bugs. This is only temporary, I am sure we'll have them on the top list soon.

I can't either. Already sent a letter to MSSM to let them know that I'm unable to login (tried multiple times including copy/paste attempts) so I'll pass along what they send back .

Man I'm getting impatient!!! I applied to 11 schools. So far, only two of them or on that list!!! I've only done 1 secondary so far!! emory is the other school and they won't get it out until the end of july! I'm beginning to wonder why in the heck I tried so hard to get my application in as soon as possible!!! Sorry to vent, but my school's committee still hasn't sent my LOR's to the one secondary that I did finish already!!!

Please send me more secondaries!!!!

The MSU application fee notice just came out. Unfortunately we still have to wait for secondary assuming they decide to give it to you after taking you $60...at least their honest about the fact that they're really in it for the money.

Mt Sinai's app is now able to be accessed 🙂

I see Kansas on the list of schools with e-mailed secondaries. Does anyone know how many essays they are and what the prompts are? If you have a link to a previous post or anything else, that would be great ...

How many people actually have U Penn?

I decided to start emailing the state schools asking when they will be sending out secondaries, so here's a small list (to be enlarged as I get word back) of when some state schools plan to send out secondaries:

University of New Mexico: Late September for secondaries/interviews for regular decision. Currently doing EDP applicants right now.

Next uP: Indiana, Maryland, Colorado, and Arizona, to be posted as soon as I hear from them.

IU only sends secondaries to people it plans on interviewing so be ready to wait awhile for that one.

I'll be interested to see that email reply from IU, because a pre-med advisor at IU told me today that they send secondaries to everyone...i.e. does not screen.....and said that IU normally hits it hard in the fall after labor day.

How wierd! Because I just checked my MSAR to make sure and it says secondaries only go out to people which will be interviewed. *shrug*

Anyone have a clue about the secondaries for UCSF, UCLA, OHSU, or Stanford?

Not me 🙁. But I'm OOS, and I think they screen (can't remember).

Hey anyone that got Pitt already...under "course requirements" I'm assuming they just want us to list which courses that we've taken count for their requirements. However, I have yet to take ochem lab...I'm taking it this fall. Should I put it on there and under "grade" just write "taking in Fall 06"?

Or put "In Progress, Fall 2006" if you are taking it now or "Scheduled, Winter 2007" or whatever. They will see it on your AMCAS as well, no?

🙂

I had a couple classes like that so I just wrote "pending" in the grade blank. it's all listed on the AMCAS app. if they want particulars. Your approach sounds good to me 👍 The important part of the Pitt app is explaining your felony convictions...

has anyone tried out the VCU online secondary?? Have you noticed that for the essay fields, even if you press enter twice, it doesn't separate into paragraphs when u view the app later? I just have 2 big blocks of writing and they're hideous. anyone with a solution?

I received a secondary invitation from MCG today, but my AMCAS application
is still not verified. Is this standard or do they screen? Is it a good sign or no sign at all?
Does anyone know?

Thanks

Kids, who has actually recieved EVMS? We need confirmation on this. The poster who reported it was joanofarc, a junior member. I am assuming this person got it and wouldn't just put it up like that, but the fact that other, more senior members on here haven't gotten it worries me. Anyone? Bueller?

Hey I really did get it: Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Eastern Virginia Medical School.

We have received your application from the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). In order to evaluate your candidacy more thoroughly, our admissions Committee would like additional information.

You are hereby invited to complete a Supplementary Application, which is available on our web site at http://www.evms.edu/admissions/. If you are unable to gain access to our on-line application, please contact our office at (757) 446-5812.

I was verified on June 14th, so I don't know if maybe that has something to do with why other people haven't gotten it yet or not. Sorry to make everyone worry though 🙁

No Vanderbilt yet?

They are all online right? I am asking as I am from out of the country and snail mail takes FOREVER to get here - like 6 weeks... I haven't even gotten my real MCAT score yet - only the online one.

It's my understanding that Vanderbilt takes longer (like August) because they heavily screen. They only send secondaries to those that will get an interview.

As to the EVMS issue, thanks for the clarification. I added EVMS on the 19th, so maybe that's the hold up.

I am probably being stupid here but what is VCU?

Also, my AMCAS application status is still:

"Submitted to AMCAS - Ready for Review" but I've already gotten an invite from Columbia to fill up their secondary... Is their admissions rolling?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about rolling admissions, but Columbia sends an e-mail invite for their secondary to everyone once their AMCAS has been submitted (I got one just a day after I submitted AMCAS (last Tuesday) and I am still not verified). Not many schools send invites to secondaries with only AMCAS submission and not verification, but it does happen occasionally. I hope that helps.

See my previous post, boomerang. Some schools that don't screen send secondary invites as soon as they get your name and e-mail address from AMCAS. Other schools wait until your application is verified (or until their system is ready). And some others with their secondaries available to all right on their website don't actually ever send you an invitiation...in that case it's up to you to find it and fill it out.

You can always e-mail or call any individual school to find out when/how they send out secondary invites. Most AdComs are pretty nice about it. But you should probably wait until your AMCAS is verified before you start trying to figure out what's going on.

Any idea which schools expect you to do the work yourself in terms of hunting for the secondaries?
