Has your AMCAS already been verified and all that jazz?

Yes verified the 19th i think. UCSD sent me an initial email June 26th, and Just today I got the secondary.
That seems like a normal time to receive the secondary if you search these forums.

Does UCSD give you a strict time limit to return the secondary?

Sorry if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if Baylor screens?

hahah just regular old US mail...
I think I got it before most people because I live less than an hour away from dartmouth... you'll probably get it monday or tuesday, no worries 🙂

btw, I'm not verified... so they send secondaries before verification.

btw, 2 essays for darmouth:

Indicate what you are doing during 2006-2007 academic year. If in school, list courses. If working, let us know something about the nature of your job.

Please share with us something about yourself that is not addressed elsewhere in your application and which could be helpful to the admissions committee as we review your file.

no word limit on these.

also, if you have done graduate work you need a lor from your thesis advisor... just a heads up.

They send an email from vums.interview gives you some hope but nah: heres the email

Dear Guy we won't accept,

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine has received your AMCAS application via electronic transmission. We are so excited that you are an applicant to Vanderbilt's 2007 First Year Class! Invitation to complete our secondary application and interview at VUMS will be mailed as soon as the screening of your application is completed. If an interview is granted, the submission of the Vanderbilt online secondary application is required before scheduling your interview. We ask only those who have been invited to interview to complete the Vanderbilt online secondary application. You can expect to hear from us regarding your application four-six weeks from the date of transmission of your verified AMCAS application to Vanderbilt. Final decisions about admissions are made on a rolling basis.

Applying to medical school takes longer than any of us wish. Remember that the AMCAS application deadline is November 15, 2006. Send recommendations to the Office of Medical School Admissions only if you receive an invitation to complete our secondary application and interview. If you need to contact our office, remember always to include your AMCAS ID number.

Note that if you will be taking the August MCAT, you should expect to hear from us 3-4 weeks after scores are reported.

Holy S! Loyola! I have to go check the mail now! 🙂

I got the University of Connecticut secondary through snail mail. Thought it was a pre-secondary rejection for a second.

I think in the past they have only sent out secondaries via snail mail. After which, they send updates like your app being complete via email.

congrats on loyola! it didn't come in my mail today...hopefully soon 🙂 what are the secondary questions?

It is recommended that you use a maximum of 25 single-spaced lines for your response to each of the first six questions. Please use a standard size "font" in typing your responses, and double space if you wish to designate paragraphs in response to any question(s). If you feel you have already answered any of the questions in the Personal Comments section of your AMCAS application, simply indicate that this is the case by typing "please refer to my AMCAS application" following the question(s) to which this applies.

1. What do you consider a valuable experience in your personal development? This might be a decision you have made, an achievement of which you are particularly proud, or a person who has influenced your life.

2. Describe briefly how you have dealt with a personal or academic problem you have encountered

3. How did you reach your decision to enter medicine? Describe your participation in any health care or other activities which reinforced your decision.

4. What self-education, research, or independent scholastic work have you undertaken and what do you feel you have accomplished in this work?

5. If you will not be enrolled as a full-time student during the current academic year, please explain what you will be doing prior to your planned matriculation into medical school.

6. Please use this space to bring the information contained on your AMCAS application up-to-date. Indicate grades earned, alterations in your proposed course work or graduation date, address changes, additions to your list of activities, and anything else you feel we should know.

I've gotten screened secondaries from my verified AMCAS already, but I still haven't received Vanderbilt's acknowledgement. Weird. Anyone else?

I received Southern's supplemental on Friday!!!! Can you believe the mailperson dropped it on my lawn?!! I was so thankful I came out before it blew away. I probably would have thought I had been screened out! Our mailperson is normally awesome, too, by the way--super nice and never known to drop important mail! I actually retraced her normal route just to be sure Loyola wasn't laying around (my mom who happened to be present, laughing at me!). Hopefully my Loyola secondary is still on its way to me, while those of you awaiting Southern's find it safely tucked in your mailbox on Monday. 🙂

Same for me, but it also took me a while to get Cornell and Pitt after people on here said that they got them.

I am having trouble logging in to Loma Linda's supplemental. I have already logged on before and have started to work on it. I can not log on to it anymore, it just brings up a page that says "page not found" Is anybody else having this problem?

Aww...I want Loyola 🙁

Me too! Punkn, if it helps, Helena and the others who have received Loyola were verified before 6-15. If you've been verified later, the wait is going to be longer. Keep me posted if you get it. Lucky for us, Helena posted the questions so we can start brainstorming! 🙂

I am assuming you mean SIU! 🙂 Congrats. Silly mailperson. Ah, we do love the Chicago USPS! Here's hoping our SIU/Loyola's are in the mailbox this week! 👍 Thanks for the info.

That's amazing. Of all the things she could drop. Maybe her kid's pre-med and she knows how paranoid we get... she was probably hiding behind a tree laughing at you 😛
Congrats on passing the screen, by the way!

I was verified on 6/14. I live out in the boonies, though, so mail probably takes longer to get here. 😉 I'll definitely keep you posted. Thanks for posting the questions, Helena!

And here are the essays in case they aren't already posted somewhere (limited to space provided on secondary):
1. Why should we admit you as a student to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine? (~2/3 page)
2. Why you have the qualities to become a good physician? (~1/2 page)
3. If you have previously applied to SIU, please describe how you feel you have strengthened your credentials since that application. (~1/2 page)
4. Please indicate any experiences which you feel to be specifically relevant to:
A. The study of medicine.
B. Self-directed learning.
C. The small group tutorial process used in the problem-based learning curriculum. (~1/2 page)

Good luck everyone!

You rock for posting SIU.

Are those who have received Med College of GAs secondary all residents or are non-residents seeing it too?
