Has anyone passed the screening yet at BU? Hopefully if you do you are likely to get an interview. So does everyone who gets a secondary from UNC get an interview?

Caristra said:Actually I believe BU is a non screener, so we should all be getting the secondary. The reason why they are on the acknowledged list is because they are upgrading their app system so they are letting everyone know that they have received AMCAS but are not sending secondaries yet. Hang in there! It's one of the last secondaries need. Here's hoping it comes soon. Along with Drexel, Harvard, hopkins and albany.
confused48 said:I am confused again. 😕 The Hopkins secondary is listed as available on the website and I don't think they screen. Is it not possible to submit it? Invitation required?
jackieMD2007 said:Just because it is on a page doesn't mean its ready. Drexel has a page too. To our knowledge, no one has received an invite for either school...
I know there are people who applied to JHU that are regularly on this thread.

I'm complete at Johns Hopkins University, I received the email last week. Filled onlined, submitted copy and picture by mail and sent LOR via virtual evals. I also got the package by mail.confused48 said:This is from their website. the application is active and can be submitted. You can register yourself or wait until they send you info:
"We offer this Web-based application in hopes that it will make our application process as easy and convenient as possible for you. You can get started right now and won't have to wait for us to mail you a package. Once you have completed this online application and submit the application, you will be prompted to print a copy of the PDF. You must print the PDF and mail it to the admissions office. Do not send an HTML copy of your application."
You can complete the Johns Hopkins Secondary Application, however, you will not be able to submit the application until you have completed the AMCAS application and received your AAMC ID number."
Has anyone else done this? Have others received a package in the mail? I think I have seen other's discussing this earlier on SDN. I will see if I can find it.

I can confirm. They use the same system as Columbia (ApplyYourself), and it is available as soon as you have submitted your AMCAS (you needn't wait till you're verified)jackieMD2007 said:Can anyone else confirm that John Hopkins University is available for online submission?
Thanks!

just becasue i had differing opinions than the masses...so they label me a troll....i dont think so... 😴
jackieMD2007 said:Guys, this thread is for secondaries. If you have a Q about research, you could try the What are my chances/what schools should I apply to thread. Or try search. I know they have had LOTS of discussions about research.
Also, the MSAR has percentages of matriculants that have research experience. Most schools show greater than 60% with some research experience.

It's not that you have differing opinions. It's the way you state your opinions. You attempt humor in every post, and it is often tasteless, spiteful, and counterproductive.Dr. Hopkins said:then they shoudlnt have tryed to ban me...... 😴

GoodDoctor said:Sorry to jump into the thread with this, but it's getting to be too much to handle. This used to be such a nice place to be before Dr. E fiasco began.
It's not that you have differing opinions. It's the way you state your opinions. You attempt humor in every post, and it is often tasteless, spiteful, and counterproductive.
Case in point:
You have used words like "******" in inappropriate ways, and now you're making a CP joke. When you're already annoying people, these types of comments become even more inflammatory.
If EVERYONE has a problem with you, chances are the problem lies with YOU, not with everyone else. Look at the past posts of people you're fighting with, and you'll see that they don't fight with anyone else. But you fight with all of them. That should tell you something. If I recall, you're into psych/social sciences. Try some honest introspection and realize that if you think everyone is out to get you, you may have some distorted cognitive views.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. You're probable not a bad person, but the way you are interacting on this board makes you appear to be. Maybe you've gotten caught up in defending yourself from what may have been unfair attacks at first, and can now recognize that it's time to step back and calm down. Maybe you've got the fiery latin personallity (believe me, my codependent-other is an espanola) and in the heat of the battle have lost sight of the fact that 99% of the people on this board are here to help and be helped in a kind, professional matter... much like we hope our doctors will treat us.
Why don't we all just agree that if Dr. E/Hopkins says inflammatory things, that no one will respond and keep the flame burning.
On the other hand, Dr. E/Hopkins, you can try reaching the 100+ post mark without 1 insincere or off-topic comment, and you'll see that people will have no problem with you, and that this can be a welcoming, enriching place to be. 🙂

He's had MCAT scores ranging from 28 to in the 40's.
He's said he's a mod, and all kinds of other lies.
Also, to do research on human subjects, you have to get special permission and people have to sign waivers. The University of California is pretty strict about that, as I am sure they are about that other places as well.

MasterMD said:OMG haha do you go to Berkeley like it says in your MDApps?.. because i totally believe you if this is really what you're doing.. there are some REALLY interesting research topics here (at Cal)!
MasterMD said:true. you always have to sign a waiver even if they don't tell you EXACTLY what you are doing the study for; then they usually tell you afterwards because if they tell you before it screws up the study... but what's to stop him from doing an open "observation" not an actual study of public reactions? who knows... i try to give people the benefit of the doubt. 🙂

Caristra said:Yep. It's definitely possible to prepare in advance but I don't like sending things in until I get the invite. The moment I open my mail and find hopkins or drexel I'm rushing on here to see if anyone has posted it yet 😀 I love trying to be first. It's like a huge premed race to contribute something to the list.
MiesVanDerMom said:i submitted Hopkins a long time ago. am i the only one?? earlier i apply, earlier i get my rejection letter 👍 they sent me an email inviting me i guess. it's a long application...

jackieMD2007 said:Final thing on this, then we are moving on. Our consent as SDN members IS NOT the kind of INFORMED CONSENT that you need for HUMAN SUBJECTS:
You can find it here:http://www.hhs.gov/ohrp/humansubjects/guidance/45cfr46.htm#46.116
Code of Federal Regulations
TITLE 45
PUBLIC WELFARE
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
PART 46
PROTECTION OF HUMAN SUBJECTS
§46.116 General requirements for informed consent.
Except as provided elsewhere in this policy, no investigator may involve a human being as a subject in research covered by this policy unless the investigator has obtained the legally effective informed consent of the subject or the subject's legally authorized representative. An investigator shall seek such consent only under circumstances that provide the prospective subject or the representative sufficient opportunity to consider whether or not to participate and that minimize the possibility of coercion or undue influence. The information that is given to the subject or the representative shall be in language understandable to the subject or the representative. No informed consent, whether oral or written, may include any exculpatory language through which the subject or the representative is made to waive or appear to waive any of the subject's legal rights, or releases or appears to release the investigator, the sponsor, the institution or its agents from liability for negligence.

Use of human subjects is no joke.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Who else got the JHU email besides MiesVanDerMom? Anyone? Bueller?
