Hey everyone,

I am, like many of you, applying to medical school for Fall 2020. I work in a well-respected (non-clinical) research lab at Penn Med, and we are seeking a few techs to help out with experiments. We would strongly prefer people who can work full-time, which is why this is more directed toward those who have finished their undergraduate degree and are taking gap year(s) prior to medical school or otherwise. We put out a lot of publications and are very lenient when it comes to who is listed as an author in these publications, so joining our group would almost definitely put you on at least one publication (likely more if you work here a year or more). If you are interested, please send a resume and maybe a short letter about you/why you would be interested to [email protected]. For a little background on the research focuses of our group, you can look up Robert H. Mach (our P.I.) on Pubmed, look at his faculty page on the Perelman website, etc. We don't need geniuses, we're just looking for people who will be passionate/interested in their work and are willing to learn and progress into strong contributors for us. I look forward to hearing from you.

Not sure a tongue out selfie is the way to go here... JMO
meh, don't see why it matters... this is just an online forum.

I could be alone in thinking this, but this seems like an inappropriate way to receive applicants. Isn't there an institutional job portal you should be working through?
Yeah, my P.I. made such a post looking for applicants with no luck. Figured this would be an okay place to post since there are a lot of people taking a year or more off as they apply and are looking for ways to bump their ECs.

Excellent response and more or less what I expected. Sign me up! On second thought, meh.

Hey, I realize that you’re just here to post this but I suggest you change your avatar. Online anonymity is important, and adcoms do look at this site occasionally. If you continue to post on SDN, I suggest making a different account that doesn’t include your name.

I don't see why an adcom would view anything I've said poorly. Sure there was one comment with some sarcasm, but I think you're overblowing this a bit.

Haha bro I like your style (bolded)

You'd probably get more resume/CV's sent your way if you drop the profile picture and ask people to email an @pennmedicine.upenn.edu address. Some folks here are jus going to see the way this is presented and be too skeptical to email you (even if they're qualified and interested)
