Self identification questions

Having trouble selecting my identity on the AMCAS application. I am half mexican and half white. I have a mexican first and last name, but I look very white. Although I have considered checking the hispanic and white box on AMCAS, I feel more closely tied to my hispanic heritage as I mainly grew up with my father's side of the family. Would it be lying if I only put hispanic on the application?

It's called self-identification for a reason. You would not be lying because you just said that you are half Mexican. Just check both boxes.
