Sending in fall grades

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i believe it should be directly to each school...

yeah, i don't think you go through amcas either....i'd contact the school, but i'd imagine they'll tell you to send it to their admissions office.

You submit it directly to the school. AMCAS basically washes their hands of you after they send your primary to all your schools. Best deal is to send the transcripts in batches. 🙄

Wow, that would cost me over $100 to send transcript update to all schools. That is not good!

yeah, it doesn't look like AMCAS has any special feature in it that lets you do that...i'd imagine you send them to the school directly, if they happened to request them. (or if you wanted to show some kind of grade improvement, or that you were fulfilling some last minute pre-reqs).

Doesn't your school have some sort of deal where you can send in 10 copies for free, then each additional is charged. But if you wait two days, you can send 10 more? No idea if this is the case for all schools though.

It's not at all schools. It's 5 bucks per transcript at UCLA.

that's still better ... at Cal, it's 6 bucks/transcript .... the diff can be huge if you apply to a lot of schools

Can't we send unofficial copies?

Do we really have to do this?
My overall GPA is higher than my term GPA...
(thank you, pchem and bacteriology!)
...I don't really want to update unless I have to...

I think you only update if you think it will improve your chances. But if you're already set, there's no reason to go to all that extra effort unless the school requests it, which I think they will at the end of second term.

i think so - i only asked one school, loma linda, but they said unofficial transcripts are fine. they told me the only time they'd need an official one is if you are accepted and plan to matriculate - then obviously they need the real deal.

Wow, your school is nice. We have to pay for every single transcript in my school. 🙁

Maybe we could use this as a chance to send an update to those last schools that we haven't heard from. I was considering writing a letter informing them of how I did in pertinent classes, about how my job has progressed, and anything else I can think of that sounds good.

So, is this crazy talk or a good idea?

What if you already sent the schools update letters for your summer grades last month, should you send another one for fall-semester grades? I really want to send them in, because I am taking 2 upper-div bio classes, and hopefully the grades I get from those 2 will be better to "cancel" a B in gen bio (this is the only bio grade I had in the AMCAS). Do you overwhelm the admission office with letters, and get them angry? What do you think??

i would send it. the way i see it, the more often you can send them something that has any meaning or value to your admissions process, the better, because they have to keep taking out your file, keeps you fresh in their memory. in my case, my grades sucked (my fault, i slacked) and i have no new activities that aren't already on my AMCAS....if i had something new (good) grades or a new activity, i would definitely let them know. but i'm still gonna send a letter of interest to my top couple of choices.

Costs $8 for official transcript at USC. Costs $5 for unofficial transcript. It's a rip off!

There are other things that are a rip-off at U$C! 😉

Just kidding. Great school. 👍 😀
