I am currently doing a postbac at my state school and deciding which classes to take next semester. I have already taken all the premed courses, however, I did not do well in them, so I want to take upper division bio courses at this state school. This state school does not have many upper division bio courses and some of them that are offered I have already taken during undergrad.
One bio course in particular is called, BIO 430: Bioscience Senior Seminar. Is this a class that is worth taking or will medical schools not appreciate it as a qualified upper division bio course? I don't want to take a course that is a waste of time or that will make the Committee unhappy. On the other hand, there aren't that many other upper div bio courses available and the more I take the better in order to boost my science GPA. Thoughts? ANY feedback is appreciated.
Thank you

Senior seminars are mostly for exploring personal interests, so I wouldn't count on it carrying any weight for medical schools. I once took a senior seminar on stem cell research and found it super interesting, so I say take it if you are interested in the topic. However, in my experience most are P/NP, and not for a formal grade, so that wouldn't count towards your GPA anyway. That may not be the case at your school though, so I'd double check on that.

In that case, go for it if you have room in your schedule. They are usually pretty easy (but don't blame me if it's not 😛).

It's not about having room or not
it's about taking this class over another one
I am capped at 17 credits per semester
