Hey guys, so I'm pretty much finished with my major requirements except for my honors thesis which would require me to be a full time student for two semesters. I don't have enough credits to be a full-time student so I have two options:

  1. Take on a minor (I already completed a lot of the requirements) and do another honors thesis project or work in a second lab (one of the two has to be done to graduate with the minor)
  2. Take purely higher level science classes to demonstrate that I'm good student (I didn't do the best in my pre-reqs and I had to P/F spring semester 2020 but my GPA is a 3.75 so that's enough?).
I was leaning more towards the first one since it gives me a lot of research experience and a potentially good LOR but I also think the second option might show me that I'm a good student. I'm worried that medical schools might think I'm trying to get easy A's by doing an additional thesis project.

1) Only do the minor if it's interesting to you.
2) 3.75 is a stellar GPA.

IMO take fun classes outside of STEM and enjoy senior year if you're applying this coming May. Basically like a gap year lol

Try to take classes that you’re passionate about. These can often make for good discussions during interviews.

Start drafting secondaries early. Trust me, as somebody who applies to 50ish schools this cycle, I wish I had started writing essays even earlier.
