So, I am re taking the pcat in Jan and need advice on how to study for the math and reading. Those 2 sections brought down my composite score significantly. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also, what would you say was the most helpful tool/way of studying for all sections? like practicing problems over and over? or just studying straight off the book?

I need to change my approach this time to do better so please help me out an let me know how you studied to do well

Thank you so much

Specifically with math, did you actually finish the entire section? The math section, at least when I took it 3 years ago, was hilariously difficult to the point that it didn't really seem like they were testing you to see if you knew math, but more so if you knew how to take a standardized exam. I can't comment on the reading section because I didn't study for that one at all and honestly, it isn't worth studying unless if they completely revamped the section in a way that you'd be able to study for it.

This is what I would suggest to do. Take an exam from dr collins for quantitative and time yourself for 45 minutes and see how much you can finish. See the topics you did well on and the ones you struggle with. The math section is about timing. You don't have to be an math expert but study smart and keep on practicing. I'm in the same boat. I thought math was my strong suit but clearly I need to manage my time wisely. As for the reading section, you should have an strategy. You don't need to read the entire passage but speed read through it to answer all the questions. The important part is being able to finish all the questions on time.

For math problems, don't just look at the solutions, try to critically think and come up with the answer. It will really help when you are stuck as you have roughly 1min. per question
