Im starting this thread as a clearing house for ANY info about Pathologist positions in the Middle East. I want to know personal experiences or any stuff youve heard. Really want some pay info and tax advice for these jobs. Im not getting anyway with my cold calls to Dubai, maybe its the time difference.

Specifically, I think these would be very much worth it for huge money, but it needs to be big, say 600 grand+(at no living expenses+no taxes=multimillionare in a few years) The problem is none of the web stuff is advertising salaries.

Give me all the info you got. Also, can you have mutliple wives in the Middle East even if you arent actually a Muslim?

Thanks!
PS- Dont turn this into a joke thread, pulleeease.

I know of an academic pathologist that is seriously considering going to Abu-Dhabi in the UAE...tax-free and free housing!

I saw something on the Discovery channel about how Mount Rainier could erupt soon and destroy lots of little towns. I guess lots of the towns around there are built on old lahar flows. It was interesting. Duck and cover.

HA! If Mt Rainier goes we are all screwed. There have been flows to downtown Seattle in the past. That would cover half of Seattle, all of Tacoma and Olympia, and a ton of smaller communities. Just under 1/2 of the state's population would be physically covered by a flow like that. We are also have St. Helens active, are overdue for a large earthquake, have major seasonal riverine flooding, mudslides, windstorms, forest fires, are in the tsunami zone if Japan gets quakes, and so forth. But, we forget things quickly.

Hmm... maybe I should add likelihood of massive natural disaster to my criteria of cities to live.

In Iowa we have tornadoes. That's it.

AbuDhabiDoc05 sounds better (let's assume he moves there sometime this year).

Just to keep it serious, I have seen the same ad for a pathologist in the UAE for about 5 yrs now. I really don't know the details and salary and such, but my impression is that if they were offering such scarry money, then they wouldn't have to advertise for the same position for 5+ yrs.
btw, Weil Cornell has a medical school program in Qatar in which they have Americans go over there and teach. Interesting...
