I am a OMS II and am looking into setting up my own 3rd year core rotations. My school provides sites, but most of them aren't exactly the "wards" experience that I want. For example, I only have 1 teaching hospital at the moment, and it is limited to 3 of my 9 core rotations.

The school has indicated that it will allow me to set up my own rotations, but truthfully, I am at a loss of where to begin asking. I would like to be in California, but the UC's do not allow external students into their 3rd year core rotations.

Does anyone know of other institutions in California that provide the "rounds" experience that will take someone like me? I would like my 3rd year rotations to be in teaching hospitals where there both are students from other medical schools and residents as well.

On second thought, sites in California would be preferable, but not essential. If you know of a quality site in another state that I could get into, I would like to know of it. My issue at the moment is not knowing what sites match my criteria and are receptive to students like myself.

Thank you tkim! If anyone else has ideas for me, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post them.

Consider yourself lucky that you get to do 3rd year anywhere you want
