I have a question about taking lower level type courses that qualify as sGPA. There are a number of classes I can take over the summer such as biostats, environmental chemistry, geological physics...that sort of thing. these classes have no real bearing towards my major nor prereqs obvs but at the same time taking them would not interfere with my time for other activities/ecs over the duration. Furthermore I do genuinely find these sorts of classes stimulating and like to stay somewhat academically involved over breaks to keep up to speed. Is there any reason NOT to take these sorts of classes? Thx

If they're sub 3000/300 level it will look like padding depending on what year you are

Having a strong gpa is one of the most important parts of your app.

Geological physics sounds challenging...
Biostats is a prerequisite at some schools...

If this is what you consider gpa padding, pad away...! Just don’t take “intro to chemistry for non science majors” after you’ve finished organic chem and bio chem.
