I took a course in ethology last semester. Would this be counted towards my science gpa? It was offered by the biology department at my school. However, it's not under the BCPM list on AAMC but is that really an absolute list? Would like to know if others have had this experience.

Thanks

From looking at the AAMC course classification, I would say that this would not fall under BCPM. Ethology is the study of animal behavior, which appears to fall under animal and avian sciences (under NPSC). I also want to point out that if the study of human behavior is not BCPM, then it is pretty safe to say that the study of animal behavior is not BCPM.
The AAMC list is absolute, but you have some discretion in which courses you put under BCPM on your application. If you take a course that is not given by your Math, Physics, Chemistry, or Biochemistry department, but most of the content of that course falls under one of these categories, you can still count it as BCPM.
