I've shadowed one doctor (for one day, in clinic and OR hours), have worked in a clinic in India for two weeks and have volunteered 2 hours a week at a hospital for several months.
Each experience has been tremendously meaningful and I can speak compellingly about the impact each has had on me, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm (perhaps woefully) light on hours.
I've been told it's what you take away from these experiences (and not the hours) that really matters, yet I remain uneasy.
If it matters, I'm applying to mostly top tier programs with a 3.61GPA and 34 ACT.
What do you guys think?
