I've shadowed one doctor (for one day, in clinic and OR hours), have worked in a clinic in India for two weeks and have volunteered 2 hours a week at a hospital for several months.

Each experience has been tremendously meaningful and I can speak compellingly about the impact each has had on me, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm (perhaps woefully) light on hours.

I've been told it's what you take away from these experiences (and not the hours) that really matters, yet I remain uneasy.

If it matters, I'm applying to mostly top tier programs with a 3.61GPA and 34 ACT.

What do you guys think?

If your story is compelling and you can speak at length about all of the experience you have, at least for post-bac applications, you're probably going to be okay.

Just make sure you're truthful and don't attempt to make the experiences something they were not. Best of luck to you!
