Hi, I shadowed and am in the process of shadowing 2 pediatricians that are partners in the same practice. I usually shadow them based on who's in the office when I come. They were my pediatricians for my whole life so they are both happy to have me shadow them. According to medical schools, would it be considered that I shadowed 2 different doctors or would I just add the hours together since they work in the same practice? I'm sorry If this is a stupid question. TIA.

1) According to medical schools, would it be considered that I shadowed 2 different doctors or

1) You shadowed two doctors.
2) If you will be using one Contact, like the office manager or a nurse director, then you could blend the hours together. If you are going to use the individual docs as the Contacts, then keep the hours separately (and include the subtotals in the narrative description).

Note that if all the physicians you shadow will be listed in one space, namely more than these two, then the Total Hours blank at the top will include all the subtotals of hours added together. (Most do it this way).

If this is all of your shadowing experience, you could enter it as 2 of your 15 experiences on AMCAS (not recommended).

If you plan to use one entry for all of your shadowing, you can write as one line of your description: "Drs. John Smith and Mary Jones at ABC Pediatric Clinic in City, State (X hours)." As a contact, you can enter the office manager, a person who helped you get scheduled to shadow, or just choose one Doc to list as a contact.
