Shadowing a DO?

Hello,

I am going to shadow a general surgeon but he is a DO. I personally do not see the issue in this, but a few friends of mine tell me that shadowing an MD is much better. I would like to hear your opinions. Also how long do you thing I should shadow him?

Those friends of yours don't know jack. A DO general surgeon is a surgeon...

It will not matter to MD schools that the surgeon you shadowed was DO or MD

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you even need to say on your application if the shadowing was MD or DO. You can just file it under "physician shadowing", call him/her "Dr. Sam Smith", and say that they were a surgeon.

4 hours of surgery shadowing is plenty.

You are correct. For title, you can insert "Attending Physician."
