shadowing a surgeon

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It is absolutely clinical exposure. A Great thing to put down under shadowing. But make sure there's also some clinical volunteer work or shadowing that involves a lot of patient interaction. Combined, they're a 1-2 punch that shows you learned a lot about medicine as well as your comfort talking and interacting with patients.

Absolutely.

I've had about 20 hours of OR time with a surgeon. It was actually much more fun than I was originally expecting it to be!

Seriously? Of course it is. Try telling a surgeon that their time in the OR isn't related to patient care (clinical exposure) and see what they say.
