I am a sophomore at USF (one of the med schools I want to apply to) majoring in psychology but wanting to go into medical school to become either a psychiatrist or an ob/gyn. My question is when should I start shadowing? And what kind of doctors should I be shadowing?

Shadow whoever you want. MD's are best if you're applying MD, DO's aren't bad to shadow though. Start shadowing asap, so you can get a good glimpse into what you're getting yourself into.
Thank you. How do I start the process? Do I just go into practices with my resume and ask to shadow? I'm just I'm sure as to how to go about shadowing.

There's many ways to go about it. I personally shadow through the volunteer department at my local hospital so that I can rotate through specialties. Look around and see if some of your local medical centers have that set up. Otherwise, pursue some people. Find as many emails as you can and copy paste an email, just changing the DR's name. There's good examples on this forum. You shouldn't need your resume, just let people know that you're pre-med!

Okay this is great information. I'll look into the volunteer department. Thank you for your help!
