Hi! I am looking to apply at UHCO and NSUOCO and I was wondering what type of shadowing and volunteering hours these schools look for I've looked on the websites but can't seem to find much direction. Thank you for your help!
Shadowing means observing an optometrist. What kind is up to you. You can shadow private practice, retail, hospital, etc. There's no certain "type" of shadowing you have to do. It should just be with an optometrist and not an ophthalmologist.
You should shadow doctors at different settings: private, commercial, combined practice, hospital, etc. I got accepted my top schools this cycle with around 60 hours of shadowing. With volunteer, it does not have to be medical related at all. I volunteered Salvation Army after school program and other non-medical organizations.
