I'd really like to get a job this summer before I apply to grad school that's somehow related to OT so I can get shadowing hours AND money. A women I spoke to a hospital today told me that it's pretty much impossible to get an entry level job such as a rehab tech (i think it was rehab tech, not completely sure) at the hospital because thousands of people apply for only one opening and that they pick someone with experience. Are there any kind of OT related jobs out there that I should apply for??

I worked as an aide at a private OT clinic for a couple of years. It's part receptionist part interacting with patients.

Have you checked out ABA therapists or Behavioral Therapists or Behavioral Interventionists? They are all pretty much the same thing with different titles and if you're interested in pediatrics, it's definitely related to OT and you get hands on experience, you actually work one on one with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders either in their house or their schools and you work with them on some behavioral and educational goals. It's really challenging yet rewarding at the same time. All that's required is a bachelors degree in a psych related field, and preferably experience with children (although I had none). A lot of companies have OTs on staff, so that could help out. However, the company I was lucky enough to be hired from has no OT on staff so I have to volunteer outside of part time work 🙁

Good luck!

I had to volunteer at a hospital to get my shadowing so you might just have to do something like that. But for a job at least somewhat related cause I didn't find anything entry-level, contact nonprofits and organizations for open positions.. don't think they only have volunteers employees do get paid. Example: I'm working at a down syndrome organization as a coordinator. I get to interact with down syndrome children all day and it's also office work, you can get a recommendation letter, plus it's money.
