I don't know if anyone else has noticed this or how many premeds are out there from New York state (probably many), but with all the new HIPPA regulations, it is very very difficult to shadow, or even volunteer in a health related field.
For instance a few years ago I was able to shadow on an inpatient psychiatric ward- however now they cannot even allow non-staff or non-patient members on the ward. And forgot about being let into an OR without being an employee or med student.
Anyone else experience this difficulty?
