Hey guys. Question. If I am in the process of setting up shadowing with several different doctors now after I have already sent in my applications, is there anyway I can update my applications? I am still working on secondaries but I wanted to know also if I get LORs from the doctors, can I have them send them directly to the schools or is that against protocol?

one thing you can do is to email the admissions director at schools you applied to with an update letter... I would say you would want to have 2-3 things to say though and not just that you shadowed. I talked about community service and summer class grades in mine. The LOR won't be that useful- if the physician doesn't really know you they can't say much after just spending a day or two with you at their clinic.

Updating schools about shadowing is toolish. Don't do it, unless you are tellingt us you didn't have any shadowing prior to applying. In that case, you are screwed anyway...

Updates would be for something significant, and even then, I would save the big stuff for interview day, or in a letter of interest/intent...

And unless you are applying to one of the 2 or 3 allo schools that require an MD letter, don't bother...
