I have a quick question but first some background info...
I am applying this year and here are my EC's:
1 year hospital volunteering (~500hrs)
2 years of tutoring/mentoring in underachieving/low income high schools and middle schools (~1500hrs)
1.5 years of work with the Journal of the American Chemical Society (don't know whether or not this counts since it mostly familiarized me with scientific writing rather than science)
1 year chair of cultural committee for a student organization on my campus
June '09 -now working on a clinical cancer research project at UCI. no publications yet.
I have spent about ~3 weeks each summer in 2007 and 2008 (~ 300hrs total) shadowing/volunteering at a general physician's office, I could put this down on my application but I have no written proof of it and I doubt the doctor would remember me if/when med. schools call him.... my question: is it worth flying to the city where he works (I have moved away since) and having him sign a paper/reminding him? or is my clinical experience good enough and i can just leave this out? Seems stupid, I know, but don't know if it will be worth the trouble...
Thanks!
