hi everyone. i am currently finishing my sophomore year of undergrad and i'm a neuroscience major and pre-med. i have a job this summer doing research at a northwestern university medical school lab which i'm really excited about, but i also want to get some shadowing experience as i haven't done any yet. what are the best ways to go about shadowing a doctor? should i email doctors directly or try to contact the hospital or what? thanks in advance for any advice!

The phonebook worked for me. Try to meet some docs during your lab job too.

Some hospitals have red tape that you have to go through. The hospital I work for requires current TB testing, HIPAA training, and a few other things. The private hospital 35 or so miles from my house requires that you be in school, have a faculty sponsor, and have worker's comp insurance. It's stupid, but they're trying to cover their *****es in case something happens to you... while you watch... Just something to keep in mind.
