Hey Guys. So quick question. I'm shadowing a doctor soon and was wondering if there was a certain amount of hours that would be good to have before applying to schools or does it just matter that you did it in general. Thanks!

I did about 70 hours and was accepted.

Most people I know did more than that. One interviewer did mention that my medical experience was lacking, but I got in...

That might have been the quickest bump in the history of online forums.

Shadow until you feel like you've gotten enough learning out of the experience. You shouldn't do anything just to make your application look better on paper. If you get asked about it and can't say anything worthwhile about the experience, it'll probably hurt you more than help you.

I don't know of any medical school that has set hours; I have heard of some PA schools that have requirements (from friends going that route).

I personally had 50-60 while some in my class had close to zero.

Never heard of a school having set requirements. I only had like 25 hours, and I still got in. It's your application as a whole that counts. I got my clinical and patient experiences in other ways. Shadowing was kinda boring to me...
