What places do you think are best for shadowing doctors? I have to choose 3 out of this list. I kinda want to do emergency medicine because it seems really exciting.

Anesthesiology
Cardiology
ENT - Ear Nose & Throat
ER - Emergency Medicine*
Family Medicine
Gastroenterology
Hematology
Internal Medicine
Neurology
Neurosurgery
OBGYN - Obstetrics & Gynecology
Oncology
Ophthalmology
Orthopedic Surgery
Pediatrics
Psychiatry** -
Pulmonology
Radiation Oncology
Radiology
Sports Medicine
Surgery
Thank you!

If it were me, I'd pick ER, Pysch, and Sports Med. Reasoning: You don't usually get to do much while you shadow, just hover around and watch. You should get a taste for the fun while you are in the ER, learn a lot about people while you follow a pysch around (if they let you sit in on consults, which is a serious if) and in sports med it tends to be lower stress and lower patient load, so you should get some good teaching and might get to help cast or some other actual procedure. Maybe.... this is all hugely dependent on the organization. If you can, I'd consider figuring out who is the most busy of the group and shadow them... you'd see a lot that way. Also depends on what you want to do, but if you have no idea.... See, there are a lot of factors to consider!

Definitely definitely DEFINITELY shadow an anesthesiologist. I did, and I got to see all different kinds of surgery. Best thing ever.
