Hey there...im really worried...i have excellent grades and am planning to do well on the DAT and attend dental school but my hands are very shaky, I've just noticed this recently...what could it be? Like when I extend them out they will shake and when i grip light objects, such as test tubes and ect in the lab, they shake really bad...I dont want this to keep me froma career in dentistry and am pretty scared...any help???

jus realized i wrote shaky..heh i meant shakey...eepp...

I think "shaky" is correct.

This is a valid concern, especially if they shake when you are gripping an object. Maybe go talk to a dentist to see what they think or lay off the java!

Talk to your family doctor. This problem is not unheard of, and prehaps you can be prescribed something.

Good Luck

Just think of all the caffeine you will need to get through freshman and sophomore years of dental school... 😀

do they shake uncontrobllable during long procedures such as writing class notes for an hour or so. My hands absoutely shake a little after I weed the yard. for a couple minutes then goes away.

Tom,

I'm going to try to lay off the caffine during dental school and just take really cold showers every morning to wake myself up. Hopefully it works!

LOL I guess it depends on the person. Me, cold showers work for all of 15 minutes... After that I find myself dozing off again.

I think I account for 50% of the consumption of Diet Dew in Western New York. 😀

I don't know what they put in Diet Dew, but it's the only diet soda out there without that wierd aspartame aftertaste..

Back to Neuropimp's the original topic: If you are able to have a steady grip and measured movements with your thumb, index and middle fingers while the ring finger and pinky are braced against something, you are fine!
