This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Want to go into stroke, tried to rank according to that + my gut:

1. Case Western
2. Cleveland Clinic
3. Barrow
4. AE-Montefiore
5. Thomas Jefferson
6. Emory
7. Beth Israel (NYC)
8. Baylor
9. Georgetown
10. UC-Denver
11. Stony Brook
12. North Shore-LIJ
13. Brown
14. maryland

NB: My bf is a lawyer, had to rank schools that he wouldn't have to re take the bar in those states!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Another anonymous list. Thanks everyone for replying, and even after Match Day, please keep these coming. The more we have, the more helpful this thread is for future classes.

1) Baylor
2) UTSW (Dallas)
3) Barrow
4) Miami

1 Case Western
2 Cleveland Clinic
3 UPMC
4 Dartmouth
5 Cincinnati
6 West Virginia
7 Brown
8 Penn State Hershey
9 Univ Kentucky
10 Ohio State

Looks like Cleveland Clinic is topping the lists for the last half who replied to this thread. Topped mine too... Great facilities, specialty coverage (most of the neuro big wigs are there), nice EMR, and support staff galore (= you do real medicine/neurology). Miami was a favorite on this thread, but I heard they are too volume overloaded with their county hospital (scutwork galore), too many carib students (not my cup of tea), and, last but not least, NO EMR at Jackson... these all threw me way off.

1. Cleveland Clinic (CCF)
2. Harvard-Partners
3. UCLA
4. Mayo Rochester
5. Columbia

According to the NRMP for state and speciality, only 1 USIMG filled a PGY-2 spot in Florida in 2010.

Wasn't someone keeping track of most #1 ranks etc?

Perhaps.

I think out of the 29 people that posted, only one ranked cleveland first. Three people ranked it 2nd. UCLA is 1st the most (4times), then Yale, Penn and Mayo (3). I think UCLA appears on the most lists (11), then Partners (10), Emory and Cleveland (8).

So the statement that Cleveland is first on about half is only wrong by a factor of about 15.

🙂

digfast, this is awesome. And just to visually have the programs by average position score

#1 UCSF: 1.7
#2 Penn: 1.8
#3 Yale: 2.0
#4 Partners: 2.2
#5 UCLA: 2.3
#5 Mayo Rochester: 2.3
#7 Case Western: 2.5
#7 Vanderbilt: 2.5
#9 Cleveland Clinic: 2.6
#10 Miami: 3.0
#11 Emory: 3.1

And of course the surprising missing name from both lists is Hopkins not making the cut this year with applicants.

It is, of course, a bit easier to maintain a good average if the program is only on 3 (UCSF) or 4 (Penn) lists a.o.t around 10 (Partners, UCLA).

But perhaps these programs were selective in their invites so they can be high on this list! 🙂

3 unmatched categorical spots compared to 0 last year per the reg report. Hmmm I have some guesses, but anyway, congrats to everyone! Will share my info later this week, as I'm a little *different* as one chairman said to me on the interview trail...

Apparently there are 4 advanced spots at columbia that went unmatched.... crazy..

there are 4 advanced spots at columbia..verified...will post the full list later today. Congrats to all who matched! here helping out with the scramble process at my school

No, Actually the data for Match 2010 was-
PGY-1 Neurology Positions

AREA - OFFERED / UNFILLED
Western - 23 / 0
Central - 77 / 0
Southern - 84 / 0
Northern - 44 / 0
TOTAL - 228 / 0

PGY-2 Neurology Positions

AREA - OFFERED / UNFILLED
Western - 60 / 6
Central - 59 / 2
Southern - 67 / 5
Northern - 171 / 9
TOTAL - 357 / 22

So, in last year match there were ZERO categorical positions and 22 Advanced positions.

Wow, what's up with Columbia???

I have read in other forums that people comment on "who knows if the spots are really real" and the like --- namely that NRMP shows the unmatched spots and due to some error, those spots are not actually there but posted as such. I have a hard time believing a top 10 program in any book like Columbia would have 4 unmatched out of 5. Maybe everyone who ranked Columbia ranked the 4 year position and people forgot to rank the 3 year position? It just defies logic here that other far lesser NYC programs went full and Columbia had 1 of 5? Has to be a mistake.

history shows that sometimes hottie programs (and pds) don't rank enough candidates and this goes down. too bad columbia...

Instead of doing a mean, you should be doing a median ranking. What does a rank of 2.2 mean since there is no 2.2 spot. A median ranking should have been given or hell, even the mode.
